It was running and then the stb coils shutdown, we replaced the CDI Unit and rectifier and it changed from stb to port. We have also run with the control unit disconnected and no difference.

You will need to remove the coils which are not firing and inspect them visually. If there are any signs of cracking or other abnormalities, they will need to be replaced as they are faulty. Coils are not something that can be easily repaired if they are internally faulty. They are a replacement item. Also check you have a good ground point on the on the motor and that it is clean and secure.

sounds like a bad coil or trigger. Find the offending cylinder with a timing light and physically move the coil to a good firing cylinder. If the problem follows the coil, you have it, if not you need a trigger,

Xs750 what is the firing order

There is no firing order. Your bike has a coil that fires on both the compression stroke and the exhaust stroke (also called a wasted spark). Therefore either plug wire can go on either cylinder and the bike should run the same.On four cylinder bikes this meant that you could run four plugs using only two coils and two sets of points instead of four coils and four points. If the bike is running poorly try new spark plugs and new spark plug caps first(start with the cheap stuff). Next check the actual coil and pulse pick up or points. You may have to replace the coil only because the wires are cracked shorting.

You got the wires right, but the coils might be off, I think the 1 and 4 and then 2 and 3 fire. Something like that. I don't know for sure. I'll send you the site. Hope this helps.

On a bike like the R1 that uses 2 coils to run 4 cylinders, most always 1 and 4 run off of the first coil, and 2 and 3 run off of the second. Both cylinders run buy the same coil fire at the same time, even though they are not both on the power stroke.

The motor will still run with the leads to the coils reversed, but runs much better when they are on correctly.

I have a yamaha 200hp 2000 model vmax outbaord that lost fire on cyl 2 and 5. the coils are fine and my manual doesnt have a way to ohm test and check resistance on stator and trigger to see which...

I am going to try to help you although I have never seen a similar motor. If you have several cylinders that work, aren't some of the components the same? You could switch components and trace the defective part that way. I.E. if #2 and #5 are dead and you switch components to make #1 and #6 dead you will know. Also if the peak voltage reading test is something you can do, you would not have voltage without continuity. You said you lost fire so you would not be able to measure ohms or resistance with a break in the circuit anyway. Hope this helps you.

Yamaha 200HP, HPDI lifts out of the water when shifting

sounds like something got put together backward . most motors will lift when put in reverse if not locked down . this is to prevent getting swamped by the rush of water going backward .

Firing order for yamaha xj650 1981 motor cycle

without a manual can you set-up the timing mark on flywheel
an see what cyl is compression stroke to find #1 cly

coil 1 are spark wires 1 and 4 cyl

coil 2 are spark wires 2 and 3 cyl

now if still have trouble then (if same plug connection) switch the around inlet plug on coils form bike wire harness or swap spark wires
