This is not a complicated problem.

If the touchpad is not responding at all and the sensitivity has been adjusted in control panel, then it will need to be replaced.

If you want to do this yourself, it will involve opening the laptop case and because the touchpad is held in by plastic clips, it will involve you taking the laptop plastic casing apart from the screen and the laptop. If the company can send you a replacement, post a reply to this and I'll tell you how to change it.

Hello, i am having issues with my touchpad not working at times, i can be online browsing and it will not click certain links and also when i am on the internet the page doesnt fully load, it says done but...

Hi tadams649...

To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.
Note: Mac computers use "F2" to enable and disable the touchpad.
D. Sony Vaio Users: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Double click the Mouse icon.
Look at the top left hand side of the page, at the top and make sure that the "Tapping" box is unchecked, if it is checked then, you will uncheck it.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

I have a Toshiba Tecra M8 and the touchpad stopped working. I can still use a USB mouse, but i've tried the FN F9 key to make sure that the touchpad is enabled but it still isn't working. Are there drivers...

Check in the device manager and see if the touchpad is listed under pointing devices. If it is not there try add hardware and see if it detects the hardware. If it is there check to see if it says device is working properly. Sometimes touchpads require software to operate properly so check and see if software was uninstalled. You can also download the drivers/software from Toshiba, try removing the touchpad in the device manager and then re-booting the computer. When windows re-boots it should start installing new hardware found. Use the driver/software you downloaded from Toshiba. If none of these work your touchpad may be bad.

Mouse or touchpad not working

Hi,

add an external mouse/keyboard to fix the onboard fault.
check the device manager for any yellow exclamation marks. as there may be a faulty or corrupt. keyboard/mouse touchpad driver.
other option, is to add remove touchpad drivers, and re-install.
finally, you could check if the settings are correct in the bios.

Thankyou For Using Fixya.
