Question about Lexmark X4530 InkJet Printer

INSERTED NEW COLOR CARTRIDGE 24 ERROR INCORRECT CARTRIDGE

Tried all solutions to correc right cartridge incorrect. Nothing works. The cartridge is the correct cartridge, purchased new from Office Depot in the combination package with the 23 Black cartridge. the black 23 cartridge does work, the color 24 doesn't. I have removed, reinserted, turned off, inserted and old 24 cartridge. I guess I take it back to Office Depot?

Yes, you should return this cartridge to Office Depot. I own a cartridge refilling store and I've had a couple customers that buy original manufacturer cartridges that don't work in their machines. What I suspect is happening is that the manufacturers are making their printers stringently check the cartridges to make sure they are not refills and that this stringency is also occasionally kicking out their original cartridges.

Make sure the cartridges are properly inserted in the carrier. Please follow steps below to determine and fix the issue:
  1. Open the printer cover and remove both cartridges. Close the cover.
  2. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.
  3. When the printer turns on, re-insert the black cartridge first. Close the cover and check for any errors.
  4. If none, re-insert the color cartridge and close the cover.
  5. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the problem. You can also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.
If no errors, try to print a document.

Just tried installing a new photo31 ink cartridge and I am getting right cartridge incorrect message.


If you are using a photo cartridge, in your case the #31 cartridge, insert that in the left carrier where the black cartridge is. Make sure your color cartridge is inserted in the right carrier to continue printing.

How do I install the printer cartrige? I do not have the booklet...


  1. Turn on your printer.

  2. Open the front cover.

The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

  1. Press the tabs on the cartridge lids, then lift the lids.

  1. Remove the old ink cartridges.

  1. Store the cartridges in an air-tight container or dispose of them properly.

  2. If you are installing new ink cartridges, remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of each ink cartridge.


NOTE: You can use your printer with one cartridge (color or black) at a time. To extend the life of your color cartridge and improve printing speed, install both a color cartridge and a black cartridge at the same time.
  1. Insert the new ink cartridges. Make sure the color ink cartridge is secure in the left ink cartridge carrier and the black ink cartridge is secure in the right ink cartridge carrier.

  1. Snap each lid closed.

  1. Close the front cover. The front cover must be closed to start a print job.

  1. Open the Dell Printer Solution Center by clicking Start® Programs or All Programs® Dell Printers® Dell Photo Printer 720® Dell Printer Solution Center.

  2. Click the Maintenance tab.

  3. Click Install a new print cartridge.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Select the type of cartridge you installed.

NOTE: Specify whether the cartridge is a new cartridge or an old cartridge (one that has been used before). If an old cartridge is incorrectly identified as New Cartridge in the Dell Printer Solution Center, ink levels may be incorrect.
  1. Click Next.

Print cartridge error


It's very common to get this error, some times the cartridges are not insterted properly in it's slot.
Try re-inserting the cartridges by pushing it more force. You can try to wipe the cartrige contact points(shiny silver/copper color metal points) with a dry tissue before fitting it back.

Receiving the message "Ink Catridge problem: ink cartridge appears to be missing or damaged". I've tried everything from cleaning cartridge holders to replacin cartridges. Nothing works and the printer...


The message you are getting may be due to the following reasons :

1) Cause : One or more ink cartridges missing.
Solution : Remove and reinsert the ink cartriges and verify that they are fully inserted and locked in place.

2) Cause : One or more of the ink cartriges are not installed or are installed incorrectly.
Solution : Remove and reinsert the ink cartriges and verify that they are fully inserted and locked in place. If the problem persists, clean the copper-colored contacts of the ink cartriges.

uninstall and reinstall printer and make sure u follow the promp and put the right cartridge in the right spot....black and color....2 different chambers

Lexmark x5490 Right /left cartridge incorrect


If you brought new cartridges and printer detecting it empty ,then you get it
replaced as the Lexmark cartridges comes with a 6 months warranty ..

Just found this partial fix: "Try removing the color cartridge and try printing with the color cartridge out. If it gives you a message that the cartridge is missing, it will still allow you to print by clicking "continue". And from there, it will allow you to print black. I think it really is a problem with your color cartridge." From searching the net, this seems to be a major problem with no solution from Dell!
