I'm having a similar issue, only mine has some buttons that respond but most do not. This seems to be a common issue... Original HVAC dealer that installed is out of business. I called another Trane Authorized dealer and talked to a tech. He said the t-stat is bad and needs to be replaced. It's still under warranty but guess what, $99 to come out and write it up as broken (mandatory for warranty) then $60 to replace. It's 2 screws and 4 wires - I can install it in 5 minutes but they said no. I called around and everyone wants to charge a similar amount. Am I naive in thinking that a part that breaks under warranty should be replaced by the manufacturer for free? It just rubs me the wrong way that I'm asked to pay $160 to replace a warranted part.
