Hi,
You would need to know the exact Brand of the peripheral and buy the exact same thing. The it would be possible.

Sounds like adding an external BD player is a good idea, but will it work. I would not doubt that Sony has implemented somthing of some sort to keep people from doing this.

I have had to get my fat PS3 fixed once with update 2.xx and now it has YLOD with update 3.xx.

I just bought an xbox 360, I am waiting for a class action lawsuit so I can:

    A. get my money back for the console.

    B. get it repaired for free! I am not paying $150 USD again for their screwy mandatory updates.

Below is a link to 85 pages and counting of comments made about Firmware update 3.xx causing problems with the PS3.

Can we buy an External USB Blue Ray Player Drive, connect it to the USC of PS3, and play our games through that rather than the original drive ( which is now broken )???

Blue ray with TSSTcorp&Prod_CDDVDW_SN-S083A

No, the Samsung SN SO83A does not include the laser that reads a Blue Ray disc. It can read and write DVDs, DVD-DL, and CDs. The Samsung SH-B083L/BSBP is an internal Blue Ray reader and DVD writer; however, it is not a slim optical drive and may not fit a laptop. There are some SATA slim blue ray drives from other manufacturers. You will need to check the size drive that will fit your case. A better option might be to get an external blue ray drive. (Note: any drive listed as OEM will not include Blu-ray playback software.)

I hope this helps.

Will the rm475e work with a Mac?

May 16, 2015 • Yes I was pleased to find that indeed the HP rm475e works wonderfully on my mid-2009 MacBook with OS X 9.5 Mavericks, where the internal optical drive is not functioning properly! Its Mac compatibility is not mentioned anywhere in the requirements schematics on the original packaged box either ... how odd, huh! LSDexitOzAmericaDotOrg

It's possible to clone to this drive, but over the USB interface, it will be very slow. Firewire would be faster. It's also possible to boot from it, but again, it will be slower than an internal. What you've described, however, IS possible.

How much is a dvd-rom drive. model;GDR-3120L. X800475-016.S/N;016-7A291555, ROM VER,0079FL.

Around here, a brand-new "internal" CD/DVD reader/writer is about $40. Note that you can disassemble your current "external" drive/casing, remove the old, and presumably "dead", internal DVD-drive, and insert a brand-new one, in order to "refresh" your external DVD-drive.

Is there a software update for lightscribe for lacie d2 blue ray burner, so that I can burn dvd titles on a disc?

When you say "burn dvd titles on a disc", do you mean to write (laser-etch) the name of the movie on the plastic disk? I am assuming that is what you mean. If not, please describe what you mean. . No, LaCie does not make a Blu-Ray LightScribe drive. This is a technology/hardware problem, not a software problem. . There are a small number of internal (I know you want external) Blu-Ray burners with Lightscribe hardware built in. Here is one: LG LightScribe GGW-H20L Blu-Ray DVD Sata Drive. . The Lightscribe website says no such media exists, even though the drives have been available since June of last year: http://lightscribe.com/products/index.aspx?id=106 Watch that site for info about the media. Once the media is available, you will be able to buy the external drive you want. . Here is a burner for only $4,400 (that is not a typo):http://www.meritline.com/sharkblu-lightscribe-8x-blu-ray-dvd-duplicator-1-11---p-35937.aspx . OK, it is a duplicator (burns up to 11 copies at once), hence the high price, but useless without the media. . BTW - It is a simple matter to buy an external USB2 or FW case and put an internal burner in that case to make an external drive. . --Dave

How can I replace my 30GB ultra ATA EIDE HDD with

Purchase a solid state drive, 2.5" for laptops 3.5" for desktops (or use an adapter for notebook drives with a 2.5")

Connect your IDE cable (and power cable on desktops) to the drive, install Windows and you are done!

If you want to keep your existing data, get an external enclosure for the appropriate sized disk and use a program like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image to clone the existing drive to the new one, then swap the two drives (SSD from enclosure to internal, other drive out to enclosure)

Comment if you need more information!

I don't know what your budget is but this looks like something you may be interested in.

now... a more versatile solution is an internal blue ray writer drive with an enclosure.. enclosures are used for people that want to get get an internal item and convert them to external/portable devices. and enclosure is about 30 bucks and that way you can just buy internal devices and put them inside the enclusure and transform a blue ray disk burner into an external hard drive by just swaping in and out internal components from and out your enclosure.
