Yes it is compatible but needs lot of settings to be done. If your router or the adapter is in warranty.. you should contact their Tech support for detailed setup.

Support for this router said it is out of warranty and phone support, it needs to be updated for forty dollars. There must be another fix, it is only 2 or 3 years old

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

The port on my netgear router are not lit and the modem is not recognised

If this is the case, the router might have a problem with the ports. But here are things that you can do to test the router:

* Use a know working Ethernet cable.
* Reboot the router.
* Reset the router, but this will erase all of the settings that you currently have set on it.
* Test if the wired connection through the modem and make sure that it will work. This will also tell us whether the modem is working fine or not.

If all of the things will not get the Ethernet or the Internet light to come on on the router. I strongly recommend that you have it checked by the router manufacturer to have it replaced specially if it's still under the warranty. As far as I know wireless router has at least 3 years warranty.

Router connection to internet problem

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

My wirless devices can find my router but fail to connect to the internet.

Can the devices connect to the web when plugged directly into the modem? if not, contact internet provider. If yes, reboot modem, make sure it is connected to the wan/internet port (not one of the 4 lan ports) and reboot the router. If no good then replace ethernet cable between modem and router. If still no good, press and hold reset button on router to put it back to factory settings. If still no good and router is less than 1 year old, contact the manufacturer for a warranty replacement. If out of warranty, try another router.

Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GX cant find just the driver

You do not need the drivers for this router to get it worked with your computer. You can simply set it up after you will login to the router page.

You need to connect your computer to the router and than router to your modem, and than you will get an ipaddress with default gateway on your computer from router and once you will click on save settings on the main router page, you will be all set and good to go.

Router only allowing 10mbps

The best and simple method to do is to do a hard reset of the router so that the factory default settings are put back.

If after that it still doesnt work check the QOS may be the port is set to use upto 10mbps only.

If not that then just upgrade to a firmware like tomato or dd-wrt they are very nice firmwares i personally use dd-wrt and its the best.

2wire HomePortal 1800HG Router blocking my internet sites

If the modem/router is rented from your service provider, I'd suggest contacting them to request a replacement. If you've purchased it yourself, check to see if it's still under warranty. Judging from the user manual, it seems it would have come with a 1 year warranty. If you're still in that time frame, contact the manufacturer for information on how to get it replaced. If you own the modem outright and it's out of warranty, you may be looking at having to purchase a replacement. The steps you've already tried (rebooting, resetting to factory settings, completing the setup process) are about all you can do with these home-use routers. There's no advanced "back door" to really poke around and see what could be wrong.
