Mine faded away in two years, just out of the seller warranty! What a shame. I suspect they are investing in planned replacement. Sorry for bad news.

Are you referring VDF Display on page 4 on the pdf file?

I want to make sure we are talking about the same item.

=======

Before you start working on it,I need to know can you able to do soldering and changing small component in this unit.

This unit can have a bulb or a true back lite on system under the display unit.

The function of the back light is just like a projector bulb.

===============

The first step is to confirm the display is still working.

Use a small flash light and shine it in an angle to look from the other side for an image of ANY DISPLAY.

Move the volume up and down and look for character change in fade image.

I hope you can see something (even faded) on the display.

================
Step two.

tap the surround area of the display to rule out intermittent connection problem.

================

If you are comfortable on opening up the unit then disconnect the open. Power it just a few second to discharge and capacitors.

Make use you open the unit slowly.

When you open the case look for any fragment(s) of electronic part(s).

This step can safe you a lot of troubleshooting time.

Check for a back lite bulb.

Check the voltage to the bulb (YOU WILL NEED TO power on the unit.....please be careful.)

Shine the flash light behind the display and look for bight display (segments)

IF all else fail.......apply light pressure on the display connect and check display on the front.

====
Please post question and result on the comment area. I will follow up it tomorrow.

Good luck

    Good.

    Please go though my hit list and see what you found.

    The last step is to unplug the unit and fire up your soldering iron.

    You have to make sure your soldering iron is at full temperature.

    Give each connections on the display a hit.

    Check all connections inside and hope for the best.

F4 2007 312r . front brakes fading .brake lever slowly pulling into handle grip? have bled brakes but no different.

The master cylinder seals are worn and will have to be replaced. The reason the lever alowly comes closer to the grip is brake fluid is leaking past the seals back into the reservoir. No amount of bleeding will solve this.

The display on my Garmin as faded away to nothing. When I turn it on, it makes all the right noises but nothing is visible on screen. A couple of weeks ago it was fading in and out but now there is...

This is not a user-fixable problem. Most likely the LCD display edge connectors are loose or corroded, but only Garmin can fix it. Your unit has a one year warranty from new (proof of purchase required); if your unit is out of warranty then Garmin have a fixed price repair policy, currently US$79 for your model.

I hope that my reply has been of assistance to you, if so please let me know by taking a moment to rate my answer.

Kenwood Tuner 40701390 (part of M58M system) receives radio stations but LCD display not visible. It gradually faded out over a long period. Suspect fault in front circuit board

if it faded over time the display itself is bad.. considering it to be an older unit might be hard to find the part... good luck.

Control panel disassembly

Shut the breaker off to the oven first. Frame around mircowave is a snapped on front. Removing allows access to two screws under control panal. Must actually pull entire unit out about 9 inches to access top of control area to remove access panel. Once front control panel is removed and top is opened, easy access to what you need to get to. Carefully write down color coding of wires before removing any of them. Remove old power supply board and display and reconnect. Reverse process. A bit of work but if you watch the disassembly process carefully, pretty easy.

I purchased this same unit yesterday from the PX Power Zone. I hooked up the unit and even managed to record a few minutes of a show. I then went into setup and made a few changes. Now, I have no display at all from the unit. Does anyone know how to reset the unit back to factory settings? Please email me at bjessip1@hotmail.com. Many thanks!
