Top lid pull up. Look in seam between top and front cover. On each side you will see where top clips to front cover. Put a screwdriver in there and lightly pry up till clip releases. Front cover will now pull up and be removed, so you could get what fell in.

Hi, There are only 2 screws holding the lid switch in place. There is a clamp that hold the wires to the cabinet behind the lid switch. That might have been what you heard fall. Is it possible the lid swtch was broke and a piece of the lid switch might have fallen off? If the lid switch was loose before you removed the 2 screws, the lid switch casing was broke so the screws couldn't hold it.
Do you think something fell into the tub or fell down inside the cabinet? If it fell in the cabinet, tip the washer against the wall and you might see what fell.
If the peice fell into the tub, once you get the water and laundry out, you should find it unless it was small enough to fall through the holes in the tub. If the piece was that small, it will go out the pump and into the drain. This pump is very strong and will force the peice through.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.
Thanks
Vic

Will not spin/agitate and will not pump water out

YOU HAVE A BELT BROKE FROM THE MOTOR TO THE REST OF THE WASHER.
ITS POSSIBLE THE MOTOR IS NOT RUNNING, BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL BE THE BELT.
IN EITHER CASE, YOU WILL NEED TO PULL IT OUT AND TAKE A LOOK INTO THE MOTOR AREA TO CHECK THE BELT AND THE DRIVE MOTOR.
IT WILL REQUIREA SERVICE CALL IF THE MOTOR IS BAD, BUT A BELT OU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REPLACE YOURSELF WITH A FEW MINOR TOOLS. SCREW DRIVER, SMALL SOCKET SET, OR OPEN END BOX WRENCHES.

I have a roper rax4232rq3 washer. The washer will

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured top loader (such as your Roper), the most common cause of the symptoms you describe is a lid switch malfunction. Symptoms may include, no spinning, no agitation, stopping at the rinse cycle and no draining.

The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3557193-replacing_a_lid_switch

On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.

A replacement lid switch (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The average price is about $20 - $30. Prices differ between sites so shop and compare.

If you have questions, or need additional assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Roper washer will not spin or drain-

you may have something stuck in your pump, preventing it from draining. The washer will not spin until it does drain. You'll have to empty the tub (you can do this with gravity by taking the drain hose and putting it down near the floor in a bucket). You will have to take the cabinet off, then take the hoses off the pump. Have some towels ready! Look inside the pump and hoses for an obstruction. If the fins inside the pump are damaged, you will have to replace it. If there is no obstruction here, look down inside the hose drain. Run a coat hanger down if neccessary to see if theres a blockage. The pump could be dead, too.
You could have a dead spot on the timer, but this is doubtful.

Washer won't start/fill/spin -- anything

Dea, does the washer fill? If it fills and justs sits there it could be the pressure switch. If it fills, agitates and then no spin no drain, then it's the lid switch. If it doesn't do any of the above, it may be a timer issue. Lift the lid and gently lower it, do you hear a click when the actuator on the lid hits the switch? I will attempt to attach a picture on how the consol flips up to see the lid switch harness, pressure switch and timer. Your model will have two screws that must be removed, they maybe in back of the end caps. To remove the lid switch unclip the clips on the right and left side, unplug the harness and tip the cabinet foward. You will see how the lid switch mounts to the cab. Catriver..post back
