Problem printing on thicker paper

Need setting for printing on thicker papers like cardstock. Wedding invitation will not print and says 'wrong size or type' of paper but does not list a setting for thicker papers. Ready to toss the printer out the window and it is a long way down! Ha ha! Not crazy, (yet) just tired of reaching a dead end while trying to figure this out! So please save the printer, and my wedding! Thank you!

There are two places to set the paper type. In windows and in the program you are using to print the invitations. The program will tell the printer what settings are applicable for this print job every time you print, and override the windows settings.

When you press print, go into the settings and make sure the paper type set correctly.

The error that you are getting is telling you that the paper size or type you picked in setup is not what the printer is detecting. Once you verify that you did choose the right type & size, the next thing to check is to make sure the paper path is clear. If a piece of paper is covering a sensor this might cause the message to appear. If you don't see anything in the way, take a can of compressed air and blow out the path.

Some printers handle cardstock better than others. If you put the paper in the back and it comes out the front, just a light push will help. If it goes in the front AND out the front, it will take more pressure.

I need to feed custom paper into my C5580. It is 8.75" x 5.75" inch cardstock for shower invitations. How do I set up to print on this paper? I keep getting the paper size mismatch error. ...

You'll need to change the paper size in the printer setup options. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. In the software application you're printing from, go to File menu and select "Print."
  2. Open the dialog box that will open the printer's properties, options, setup or preferences (name depends on the software used).
  3. Click the Features tab.
  4. Under Resizing Options in the Size drop-down list, select "More."
  5. Choose "custom paper size" to enter the dimensions of your card stock.
There are other options you may want to tweak to customize the print job for your paper type, resolution, orientation, &c., as well.

Good luck!

I'm trying to print wedding invitations on my Canon MP460. I'm using a cardstock thickness of paper and have set the ink levels for "Other Photo Paper" on my Mac. The paper has been going through...

Sounds like the ink isn't having time to dry and is rubbing along paper.

Paper may be too thick. If it prints OK on normal paper (test first) but not on thick card, then it doesn't support thick paper settings.

I am trying to print a wedding invitation on 5.5" x 8.5" paper and I keep getting paper size problem.can the HPC5180 print that size paper

3 in x 5 in (min) - Legal (8.5 in x 14 in) (max) is the spec per HP. Have you tried to set up the paper size as "custom" in both the driver and the program? This may help if the size you want is not listed in the properties dropdown.

How can I print invitations size 5X7 on this printer.

You need the driver setings on your pc, select the correct paper type or media type then select the size if this size is not available you can create a custome paper size one the driver but you must take into consideration on how thick is your paper you can set the media thicker setting all this option is available on the printing preference (windows) or print settings (mac).

hope this help

Printer won't accept Card Stock

Nothing to adjust feed mechanics. If it's temporaly print, you must feeed paper 1 by 1, and when printer grab paper, push paper by hand. If it's routine print, you can adjust the pick up rubber at paper feedr mechanic. Add double tape ( 1 mm, soft) below top rubber. I have done it, and printer can grab/feed paper up to 350 grams.

when you hit 'PRINT' the window that opens up to complete the job will have a button called 'preferences'. Check to see that the paper selected isn't photo paper. You will have you choice of paper type thickness and size.

HP 2575 Jamming on cardstock paper

most likely that printer would do it if it were brand new, but after a period of time, the mechanism becomes 'tuned' to a certain size paper..

you may need to realign the rollers, etc, to accept the thicker paper.

my recommend..go to a local print shop with paper and images/data on cd, and let them do it.

Paper mismatch

Hi kingwa55,

I have an hp photosmart c4480 and was having the same problem printing wedding invitations. Same size 5.5"x8.5'. Im not sure if this will work on your printer, but this is what I had to do.

Click on Print, then Properties, then features.
About half way down there is a drop down box under sizing options.
Click on custom
Create a name, and put your width and height in.
Click Save and then OK
Completely X out of the print options.
Then Click
File, print, properties, features, click the drop down box under sizing options.
Click more and scroll to the bottom and it should be there.

If your options are different then mine, I'm sorry for wasting your time.
