How to fix iced up and jammed ice maker for Sub Zero 532

My ice maker is frozen. I can feel a slick iced up surface where the cubes should be. This has happened before and I don't want to call a service tech, since I watched the procedure last time and believe I can do it. I will buy a new ice maker, if necessary. I need to know how to remove the current one and either get it unjammed, or install new one.

Re: How to fix iced up and jammed ice maker for Sub Zero...

There should be a screw or two that if removed will allow the unit to pull free. The rest you have seen...Take it out and let it thaw then replace it and see if it works if not then get a new one....

Sub zero 650 slow ice maker

Hi Maureen,

Your sub-zero 650 should produce about 8 cubes every 2 hours. It sounds like the heater beneath the ice maker may be wearing out. Ice makers use a heating mechanism to warm the cubes in the mold and force them to easily eject. If the heater is failing in the back slot, it could cause the ice cube to get stuck. If this is the case, you usually need to replace the part or the entire ice maker.

It is also possible the mechanism isn't properly aligned. You could try adjusting it.

You can find two manual on FixYa here:

Otherwise, I suggest contacting their customer service or a technician:

Best of Luck!

Sub zero 532, ice maker issue. water enter the cube bin freeze into a block of ice with the cubes embedded. What is the cause of this issue?

There is a few things that you will need to check to isolate the problem. this first thing is locate the fill tube where the water comes into the ice maker. What you are looking for is any ice frozen inside causeing an overspray of sorts. If that checks good, then the next thing is look at the icemaker itself. Look at where the water goes to and freezes. Is it completely full of frozen water? if so then the water valve is sending too much water either because the ice maker called for it or the valve stuck and didn't close when it was supposed to. If its not full, look at the bottom of the ice maker, checking if there are any cracks allowing water to fall into the bin. My personal opinion though would be to change the ice maker and the water valve because of the age of the machine. the bad part is the actual icemaker for that model has been discontinued but I believe you can use a whirlpool style that matches, comes in a kit that has both the water valve and icemaker, and cost almost half the price as the original. that part number is 1129313

The ice-cube maker on our Sub-Zero 650 has stopped making ice.

try replace the cheapest part first.( vater valve). you only need 2 components to make ice. water valve and ice simple and easy water valve located in the bottom part of the unit. remove the kick plate. left side. and color blue. ice maker inside the freezer. (DISCONECT POWER BEFORE SERVICE. ALSO TURN WATER SUPPLY OFF.) try main box , garage. and water meter outside your house. good luck

AMANA ARB2257C ice maker makes noise/doesn't eject cubes into bin

Hi: First off make sure the fridge is level. Is It too high in front? Making the rear of the icemaker overflow and jam? Also make sure the freezer section is a zero degrees, not just frozen. Ice cream should be rock hard. I hope this helps you avoid calling service. Thank You, Jeff

Sub-Zero 550 - freezer unit is chilling, but not freezing

Ice maker was intermittent at best - ice was often just a shell. After two failures to correct we had the ice maker (a Whirlpool - on a Sub Zero - Go figure) replaced. Then the paddle that detects the ice level broke. Next step a new GE.

Sub zero 532 ice maker

When my repair tech came out, he showed me that the fill tube sometimes retracts toward the rear of the freezer. He simply pulled it forward with a pair of needle nose pliers until it rested in the delivery reservoir. This placement allows the detector to know when the tray is full and shut off; thus not overfilling the freezing tray and/or splashing additional water onto the freezer wall and into the ice cube drawer.
