Question about Mtd Yard - Man 160cc, 21" Self - Propelled Lawn Mower
The gas float could be sticking in the Carburator. Gas will go down the intake, into the piston, down the cylinder walls and into the oil.

Alot of times the head gasket fails, pumping oil from the bottom of the motor into the cylindar causing blow by. Pumping gas and oil out of the carb. Changing the gasket is easier than you think. It's not like changing one on a car.

I just had that problum with my dynamark today it was the rings they went bad but not saying this is your problum but it could be

better late than never, I have the same mower
there is no throttle control on these mowers, if you look under the air filter the throttle is balanced by a spring pulling in one direction and a lever controlled by engine speed. if the spring breaks or falls off the lever will wiggle back and forth, more gas if the engine slows, less if it speeds up. you end up going fast/slow/fast/slow etc.
The tension spring slows the switching down and smooths out the engine speed.
