There must be an adjuster on the pully to increase tension.

I have a hotpoint model# dlb2880aacad. The belt broke. I bought a replacement part, giving them the model number to ensure the correct belt. It seems too long, but I am not quite sure if i am putting it on...

The belt needs to go over the tension pully too. This will make up for the slack. Check the internet under your model for diagrams. Good luck!

My alternator belt came off and cant figure out how to put back on i got it on all the pullys but theres still alot of slack

Sounds like it's not on the idler gear. Look for a diagram of the belt routing on a sticker under the hood. Basically the smooth side of the belt goes on the smooth pulleys and the grooved side of the belt goes on the grooved pulleys.

if the belt is still on the dot on the camshaft should line up onthe 12 oclock if you look close there is a mark behind it the crank mark is about 10 or 11 oclock you will see the marks make sure no1 is at top dead center if all this is good look to the left buy the camshaft and there is another pully on the left under the camshaft this is the adjust pully to take the slack out lossen it and push it till the slack come out ok and yes it is a interference motor hope this helps

Ho0w do you replace the power steering belt on 1996 dodge avenger

there should be a tension idler that has to be retracted to give the belt slack most has a 1/2 inch square hole in it for a break over bar to fit in it to realese tension however i have not delt with this particular model but most are the same also be sure to carefully look at how the belt pattern is or if it still has the sticker for belt routing on it realese the tension and slip belt off first pully making sure not to put yoru finger between the belt and the pully after the first pully has been cleared the the tensioner can be released and the belt removed then put new belt on all pullys but one at this point tensioner bust be realesed again ultill belt is plased on last pully be suer belt is inline with all pullys

Cant ajust tensioner pully

You have a (spring loaded) tensioner. I usually use a rachet and whatever size socket the bolt requires and use a 2 foot hollow pole as a pull handle.. Put the socket and rachet on the bolt, slip the pole over the handle of the rachet and push the tensioner back which will give you the slack room you need to install the belt. Make sure you have the belt around all the other pulley's so it will be a easier to slip it on to your tensioner. This tensioner should adjust itself by spring action.

How to tighten my 306 dt 98 fan belt

you need to take off the drivers front wheel and plastic cover infront of the engine.
then you need to crack off two allen key type bolts holding the braket and tensioner pully in place, that is positioned just right of the crankshaft pully. Once the whole unit is slack you have to loosen the adjuster that is visible underneath the tensioner braket to take the tension off the belt. Once the belt is loose enough take it off and reverse process avoiding overtightening new belt. [It needs a little give to avoid damging bearings in the pully]

Where do I loosen my belt that is runs A/C on 2000 Toyota Sienna?

One of those "wheels" or TENSIONER PULLYS on your vehicle is the tensioner for the a/c compressor. You will need to look at it and see if there is an adjustment bolt behind pully. If there is, loosen center pully nut, then run adjustment bolt out to slack out the belt. Replace belt and reverse prosedure. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN BELT,as you can damage pullys and or belt. Tighten to factory specs. Rule of thumb is pulling the belt out and check for slack. No more/less than one inch slack.

Tension pully is loose making the belt rattle

It sounds like you have a broken serpentine belt tensioner. The tensioner should always be tight, it is spring loaded and you would have had to release the tension on it to have put the new belt on.Depending on what engine that is in yours, this could be an easy fix or a hard fix. The tensioner on a 2.2L is made into a large plate bracket that is attached to the front on the engine and several other items have to come off to replace it.The tensioner on the 3.1L v6 is smaller and has one bolt that holds it on.Either one is available at the local auto parts store.

Hope this helps

My serpentine belt has about 2inch's of slack in it. Why?

This is how it should be routed if you have the 3.0L engine. Give me the number off of your belt and I can tell you if it is the right one.
