SOURCE: Problem with DVD-VCR combo

I found if you disconnect the power and keep it off for thirty seconds or so to let it reboot, the "SAFE" problem disappears.

SOURCE: the power button comes on-from red to green, It

From your description it is processor controller ic issue, remove the power supply cord from the receptacle and any other cords that are tied to the machine for at least 30 minutes to see if the processor can be set. If this fails it is more cost effective to buy new rather than trying to repair the combo unit.

Why is the display always on?

Sounds like it is recognizing it, so probably wired correctly.

Browse the owners manual for the settings, you might have them set wrong.

I cannot get my GO VR5940 to finalize a disc

1) you must shure the Disck is cleaned or not scrack , clean very well in vertical SENSE NOT circle, in that way you are erasing the data!
2) use disc cleaner for to clean THE OPU, and can read the TOC from DISC complete.
3) Tight any wires connector inside, and clean the ribbon cable with erase pencil
4) If the problem persist the problem can BE the OPU faulty. Go to the repair shop.
God bless you

some dvd recorders take a while to come on if you turn it on with no disc in and wait for it to load up also check that the cables are all in correctly and you are on the correct channel it should show a start up screen also try changing the channel through the dvd recorder if this does not work and you have read through the manual contact the manufacturer or supplier

Go video #VR5940 DVD Recoder + VCR

It is actually a menu setting that is intended to allow you to leave for a short time (like to go to the grocery store), and view the remainder of a movie without having to find where you left off.

With your remote control, enter the menu and look for a setting related to "Remember Last Position".

(I would be more specific, but the company's website has been taken down and there is nowhere to research the exact wording from the menu)
