Just had to replace the water pump to my mastercool, now it smells like fish! I thought that bigger was better so i went from 7000gpm to 7500gpm. Could this be the problem since the pads are becoming saturated and not having a chance to evaporate? It has been more humid lately and maybe the is a coincedence? Maybe I should go to an even smaller unit (500gpm). I have the smaller mastercool. It makes sense that they need to get wet AND evaporate for proper cooling, duh! Just wanted to double check with someone who may know for sure. Thanks, Louis
Louis, The cooling does not come from the volume of water running over the pads. It cools by cooling the air passing through the wet pads. So, Yours is an impeccably logical argument that leads to a false conclusion. Bigger is not better in this caThe fishy smell is from the matting (pads) when kept saturated, Molds and algae will form if there is too much water also.. Best you get the original size pump Good luck and stay cool - Ned

I have the same problem as rmrjr9901 . My 8 year old mastercool control/junction box had 4 wires. My Mastercool Thermostat is labeled as follows Blue -OV, Red- +5.6v, Yellow-Control 1, Green Control 2 . The new junction box I have it is also a Mastercool but it uses 5 wires. Y(fan). W(pump), R(24v), G(com), B(drain). The old unit has no white. What do I need to do?
