You did not post the make and model number of the computer. There may be a proprietary driver missing. the BIOS should have nothing to do with the issue. On another note, XP is no longer supported so it may not be able to register with Microsoft.

You are missing the OS.
If you have the restore CD's, use them to restore your Dell to original state, or you can order a set from Dell.
If you do not have a restore CD's you can also boot with a Windows CD and install the OS but you will have to go to the Dell website and download the drivers for your model.
I hope this helped.
Good luck and have a pleasent day.

Hello i have an Acer Aspire One model zg5 netbook

You're going to need to boot it from the Windows XP installation disk, which means if you don't have a CD drive you'll need to get an external CD-ROM drive. This will fix the problem.

Hello,
Borrow an installation Cd of your OS. Configur your computer to boot from CD.
Boot from CD, Choose (R) repair option. The recovery Console appears. Enter the number (1, 2 or other) that corresponds to the partition the system detected. If you see only one installation then you enter 1. You will then be asked to log in as administrator by supplying the password you entered whwn you installed.
When the C:\> prompt appears type
COPY [your_file_name] [SPACE BAR] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ [your_file_name]
After that Press [CTRL][ALT][DEL] to restart.

It should copy the missing file and you will be able to reboot.

Hope it helps

NTLDR is missing. Press ctl+alt+del to restart.

I assume you are using Windows XP. This is what you do:

Windows XP users
  1. Get a Windows Installation CD. It doesn't have to be yours, anyone will do.
  2. Insert the Windows XP CD into the computer.
  3. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
  4. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to lauch the Recovery Console to repair Windows.
  5. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
  6. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password. If you have none set, just press Enter without typing anything.
  7. Copy the below two files to the C:\ directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example, the files from the CD-ROM drive (which in this case is "D:\" are copied to the C:\ drive. This letter may be different on your computer.

    copy D:\i386\ntldr C:\ (hit Enter)
    copy D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\ (hit Enter)

  8. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.
If you have any more questions or this is not clear to you, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Emachines 2792

pull the power plug as soon as the emacines logo comes on
and if that doesn't work pull out the power as soon as the first windows logo screen comes on. it should then come on and give you the option to start in safe mode or regular mode, choose safe mode then after it comes on in safe mode restart the cpu
then it should come on in regular mode i don't know why it works for my emachines cpu but it does . i'm looking at downloading a error fixing program because i'm doing this almost when ever i turn off my cpu hope this helps if not reformat your hard drive andput windows on again it worked last time i had this problem.
