SOURCE: cub cadet 2160 PTO problem

Yes, there is a switch on the motion lever on the transmission, but there is also a relay switch that is taped to the fuse under the hood of the mower...if this goes bad, the deck will not come on

SOURCE: PTO switch shuts down tractor

if the pto bearing is locked up it will stop a motor dead this is a common problem. You will have to get a new clutch assemble. The other thing that it could be is the deck has a locked up spindle.

Pto doesn't work cub cadet rat 42

It's not good to run the PTO on a weak battery because it can cause the clutch not to hold proper and cut off or cause excess wear. If the battery is good or new and goes down enough to allow the PTO to cut off then you have a charging problem. Hope this will help.

Pto issues 52 troybuit lawner

This can be caused by several things here is the top 3. Dirty terminals on pto switch (unplug and clean with an electrical contact cleaner), a weak battery (pto clutches need a good current to operate correctly) or a failing pto switch (these can cause your pto clutch to go out and they are not cheap).

Why does my engine shut off after running for awhile with PTO engaged; will restart with PTO disengaged, but shuts off when i attempt to engage PTO?

Does this only happen when the engine is warm or at operating temperature or all the time even when cold? In older engines, a 'bad ignition coil' would fail when the engine warmed up and would not start again until cool or at ambient temperature.

While mowing along my blades stopped turning. i shut the pto off and tried again. i noticed the battery light comes on when i turn the pto on. i let the machine cool off and tried again. the pto turns on...

Did it work right after you changed battery? It sounds like your regulator/rectifier isn't recharging your battery. When the battery isn't charging properly the pto wont work for long. If you have a multimeter, hook it up to battery while unit is running and check voltage on battery. When idle is high you should see more charge and vice versa. Please exercise caution when doing this. Hope this helps.

X595 john deere pto wont kick in

These John Deere Garden Tractors have a RIO (Reverse Implement Option) on the PTO. If your PTO is engaged and you back up, the PTO will automatically stop. To reset it, depress your PTO engagement switch to the OFF position. Take your foot off the reverse pedal. Pull up on the PTO engagement switch. The PTO should restart. To use the RIO feature, pull up on the PTO switch for a second or two just before you step on the reverse hydrostatic pedal. The yellow RIO indicator light should come on your dashboard and you can now back up with the PTO still running. Works great for snow blowing when I don't want to keep resetting my electric PTO clutch to keep restarting my snow blower.

If your PTO will not restart, you may have a PTO switch starting to fail, or a likely logic problem in your electric PTO control module, or one of your forward/reverse indicator switches, which is linked to your PTO control module along with the overtemp circuit, is stuck/faulty.

A battery going bad may be your culprit. I found out just the other day that your mower can keep running but when the battery gets too weak, the pto clutch disengages and shuts down,

My electric pto is not working properly. It shuts off and does not turn back on when theswitch is pulled

I've had the same problem. Intermittent shut-off of the pto. Found out that the pto (electric clutch) draws heavily on the battery current to stay engaged.Clutch is actually an electro-magnet. I bought a new battery (300 cca) the bigger the better and clutch now works fine. Old battery was still strong enough to start engine but not strong enough to engage pto. Old battery was 4 yrs old. A good clutch will click if jumper wires from the battery to clutch wiring harness are connected (with out motor running.)

Engine shuts down when pedal is released, and when pto is ingaged

check your Reverse Gear engage switch and PTO (blades engaged switch), either a bad switch(es) or short in wiring indicating that you are in Reverse with the blades engaged. Is there an override function so that you can mow in reverse? Check that circuit vs. the PTO and reverse gear. good luck

When cutting with pto on and going into reverse and forward again the pto cuts off

That is a safety feature. When the blades are engaged and you go into reverse, they will shut off until you get out of reverse and turn the blades on again.
