Question about Bethesda Softworks Fallout 3 for Xbox 360

Can't save Hi. I just started a second game in Fallout and though auto save is fine, I can't manually/permanently save at all. I hit save and the screen just goes back into the active game as though it had just saved. Never had this problem with my first game. Any thoughts?

Nope, no error message. I ended up abandoning that game and starting a third which did save properly on the same source (memory). Fallout's just a buggy game, I guess. Anyway, thanks for the response!

And It does´t send an error message? Do you have the save location on the hard drive or in a memory unit? Try loading your previous game, then save it and see what happens.

and you are sure its not saving? sometimes its very fast and it seems like it didnt save. This may sound stupid but its worth a look, Did you plan on keeping the files from your old game? and how full is your hard drive?

I have the Fallout 3 game of the year edition, I have brotherhood of steel add-on activated, nothing else, along with 17 mods. Every time I attempt to save, fast travel, or enter a new area, my game would...

Try it without the mods (If there are unknown variables these fixes might not work). I had many problems with my fallout 3 (I am a bethesda fanboy so I stuck to the game despite all the problems). The first fix i reccomend is going to your system settings and then to your memory and then clearing its cache (will not affect your saved games). The second fix I recommend is deleting the patches and letting them download again. The third fix is the corrupted data deletion. Sometimes changing options in the options menu created corrupted data that would show up somewhere in your fallout game saves folder (labelled corrupted data). Sometimes this corrupted data can be linked to a specific game save (deleting a game save is a worse case scenario).
)The forth fix (is true for most every bethesda game) is limiting your saves (for me i only have 2 at any given time and never anymore) seems like each game (skyrim, oblivion, fallout 3, fallout new vegas) craps out at a specific amount of memory used for game saves fallout 3 i remember being so bad that i couldn't hit level 30 with 2 games saves without constant crashes (i had all the add ons and that seemed to make it a bit worse). Thats a fix for pretty much everything that can go wrong I hope this was helpful.

Fallout 3 - using PC windows 7 - Have 2 CD's - in install - 2nd cd never asked for - have beaten game - no extra content available - Upon advice of telephone tech support(2 weeks ago) deleted game...

The second disk is basically just an expansion which is not needed for the original program to function and it isn't asked for. Insert the second disk and if the auto install doesn't initiate shortly after hit the windows icon in the bottom corner of the screen and select computer click on drive e which is the disk drive and look for an install or a program with .exe which is an execute command which initiates something normally a function of the program a screen should come up and there were 5 add ons to fallout3 make sure each box is checked and install. restart your pc and when you start fallout it should say something like it's reading downloadable content. When you load your current game you should get new sayings that you found a new radio signal etc.

Fallout 3 Freezing Problems???

Fallout 3 freezing is an unfortunately common problem. A lot of people have reported that clearing the game cache on your 360 will fix it, so that's what I would suggest you try first.

To do this:
  1. start up your 360, then take out the Fallout 3 game disc.
  2. Hold down the A button on the Player 1 controller
  3. Put Fallout 3 in your 360, then load the game
If this doesn't fix it, the next thing you could try is to clear the system cache. This will clear the entire cache for your 360, including the automatic updates (though downloaded content, save files, and user dats will be untouched).

To do this:
  1. Navigate to System > Memory
  2. Highlight the hard disk in the list and press Y
  3. Press X, X, LB, RB, X, X
If done right, you should see a message asking, "perform system maintenance?" Proceed with this, and it will clear all the cache data out and revert Fallout 3 back to version 1.0 (it should ask you to update once you load the game)

Hope this helps - I've had my share of frustration with Fallout 3 glitches.
