Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

The moving platen on top of my Sharp Z-57II is stuck in the far left position. I had it fixed by a repair person for that same problem. After a few copies, it is stuck again. The repair person is 90 minutes away. Help.

I'd say you have no choice but to call him back.
It doesn't sound like he did a very good job and I doubt very much if he could charge you for a second service call for the same problem.

If you fiddle with it you don't have much chance of fixing it if the service guy didn't get it right and you could make it worse.

I'd call him back and wait it out.

The platen won't stay in place so only the top half of the characters are showing

If the right platen latch is broken it can easily be replaced to lock down the platen. If the left one is damaged then you have to replace the entire platen as that is much more difficult to repair.

I just had my 7470 serviced because the thread tension was messed up. Now as I'm sewing along, the needle will move from center position to left position by itself and then within a few stitched,

the gear or part that holds the needle position in place may either
be getting jarred or is worn,,
try using a different threadThe needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

also try adjusting the top thread tension
as far as the bright spot, the display could be going out.

sometimes the repair person does not check the machine to
see if the machine is working correctly, because they would have
to charge more and some don't so you have to bring the machine
back more often and that makes them more money.

Have a Nakajima WPT-150 typewriter that has label stuck to the platen. How to fix?

I haven't worked on a 150 for a while but I believe that the left platen bearing rotates to a position where the platen can be lifted from the left.

How can we change the correction tape? We are unable to get the correction tape off. We can take out the regular ribbon. The wheels for the correction tape won't come off and we can't get below taking...

1. Use the spacebar or backspace to move the carrier to the center of the platen.
2. Open the top cover.
3. remove the cassette ribbon if installed.
4. Pull off both spools, pressing against the correction tape with your thumbs. Bring it back to a position parallel with the platen, lift it up and out.
5. Pass the new tape through the left guide, behind the ribbon guide. The rough (sticky) side of the tape should face the platen.
6. Attach the feeder spool to the pin on the left.
7. Attach the take-up spool to the pin on the right.

Sharp CopierAL1661CS scanner function seems jammed. makes clicking noise the grinds but no movement across platen

Under the top left side above the paper exit tray, there is a glass like lock that either unlocks the platen or locks it. If you accidentally touch it when collecting copied papers, you locks the scanner motor causing that clicking noise.
Remedy
  • Check that lock and rotate it the other direction slowly till it stops.
  • If it does not solve this, open the document glass and check the the rail that carries the scanner. Oil it to make it smooth and no problem should occur. Also check that the motor is securely locked in its position.
Best of luck.

Dark, vertical stripe on copy on Sharp AR-M160

Have you cleaned the small, narrow glass window leftmost of the platen? It is directly above the scanning bar's "home" position, and that's where the document is scanned, while it's fed by the feeder, passing over the bar (the paper moves, as oposed to platen scanning, when the bar is moving and document remains still).

Error Message L1-00 Refer to user guide

Here is the issue from the documentation.

L1:Indicates that the Main PWB sensed that the carriage did not leave home after power up or after start is pressed. Turn the machine off and on. And make sure the lamp carriage is moving. If it is not moving, Remove the platen glass, and see if you can move the lamp carrage easily, or if it's binding. Then look to see what it hindering it. If it moves freely and nothing is catching the lamp, the motor has most likely blown a fuse. But,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, often times there the lamp is hitting the sensor that detects where the lamp should be when in the park position. You may just have to bend the bracket out of the way or make sure one of the screws on the left side of the glass are not moved down to far.
