I'd say you have no choice but to call him back.
It doesn't sound like he did a very good job and I doubt very much if he could charge you for a second service call for the same problem.
If you fiddle with it you don't have much chance of fixing it if the service guy didn't get it right and you could make it worse.
I'd call him back and wait it out.
