Uninstall software

make sure the printer is compatable with mac and try to download the mac driver on HP.com

Installed fine, report indicates the network status is ready, but when I try to print, the printer is "offline".

I am missing a ink cartridge and my hp photosmart C4580 wont let me use my scanner

This is because printer and scanner are connected together.The printer need both cartridges installed to initialized and then initialized the scanner.Just put the missing cartridge and problem will solve.

HP C4580 scan and Snow Leopard

Heads up..
HP Scanner software (ex. HP device manager, HP Scan Pro) no longer works in Snow Leopard OS since it's already preloaded. There are three methods for you to scan.
1. Preview
2.Image Capture
2.Scan under Print and Fax

I think drivers for 2000 and XP are the same. You can use the drivers for XP or sometimes, drivers are already built-in to XP.

Photosmart c4580 goes offline. using in wireless mode

My HP photosmart c4580 will print from my computers via USB but anytime I try print wrelessly it tells me it is offline. After all the problems I have had with this printer going into deep sleep mode and the patch updates which seem to eliminate this problem I am now burdened by this,
