A recovery partition is mainly a waste of hard drive space. Instead, click Start, All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Backup Status and Configuration. Fallow the instructions.
System Restore is also a hard drive hog. There is a way to limit it to a user specified hard drive allocation...

I am trying to recover a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210-EZ2203X with the recovery discs. I got the wrong machine error. In the meantime I installed a copy of Windows XP home that I had for another computer....

OK were the Recovery Discs made by you or did they come with the computer? If you made them I've seen the user created recovery discs fail countless times. Normally there might be a partitioned disc on your hard drive that has the Toshiba Recovery on it. You would get to hit by hitting a function key when you boot the machine. But you might have wiped it out once you installed Windows XP if you formatted the drive.

I think you are going to need an Operating System Disk that has the same operating system that came with your computer. Your Certificate Of Authentication (COA) key is probably on the bottom of the laptop or insde the battery case. Once you load the operating system it will prompt you at some point for the Key on the COA sticker so it can activate windows. The key is a series of 5 letters and number combinations. Hopefully it is readable on your sticker. If you have Windows Vista Home Premium you can't reinstall with a Windows Vista Home Basic. You need your exact operating system.

For recovery on a Toshiba, assuming the hard drive patition is still intact is, Press F8 just as the BIOS screen dissapears. Choose Recovery Partition.
Hope that helps.

What is the largest hard drive supported by toshiba p25 s507

The specs say that you have a 60Gb. hard drive. If the unit is less than 2 years old, you should be able to install a 200-300 GB. hard drive without any issues. The older laptops have a 137 GB. limit on hard drive partition space. You still can put a larger capacity drive, but you will have to partition the drive into c: 137GB, then the second partition can be any size.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response
Thanks, Joe

I can not make my recovery disc.

Hi there.
I'm sorry to tell you that when you reformatted the drive you deleted the recovery partition and all the recovery information on it, this is why the recovery disk creator cannot be launched and is giving you an error.
Thankfully for you, you created a recovery disk before you wiped the drive so this is your only way of restoring the system so make a back-up copy of the recovery disk you made and keep it safe as the problem cannot be solved because you deleted the recovery partition.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Wireless network disconnection sometimes

The Toshiba Satellite A210 has a built in wireless adapter - at least all of the ones I did a quick check on the specs. If yours has a built in wireless why are you using an adapter??? Presuming you have a good reason - have you gone in and disabled the built in wireless? They could be conflicting. Second I would use Network Magic software to setup your home network. I struggled many hours and could not get everything to work the way I wanted - all problems with home network fixed in minutes with Network Magic. I do not work for them or anything but I will tell you it is the best software money I have ever spent - and I have been around since 10MB was a dream hard drive.
