Question about Washing Machines

Frigidaire affinity washer has started to smell musty and clothes and towels smell even after drying. Is there a filter or anything to clean. I have washed towels with bleach and just ruined a colored load of towels.

Hi there,
I too had that mildewy smell. Are you using HE soap for your laundry? For too many suds in your wash is not beneficial. Also when I wash my coloured towels, I use VINEGAR instead of fabric softener in my rinse. Believe it or not the mildew smell is gone and the towels stay fresh smelling longer. As for my white towels I just use javex with my wash and fabric softener and they seem to be fine. Good luck and try the vinegar!
It'll work!

If you dont wash whites with clorine bleach, you may want to every once in a while. Clorine kills germs and backteria which can smell. washer pumps do not get 100% of the water out.

Washer smells even after cleaning cycle

Hi,

It sounds like an air vent is either missing or clogged. That gurgling usually indicates some sy phoning action going on which is drawing water out of a gas trap. Hence you are getting sewer smell into the washer.

Thank you !!

Smell after drying

Try drying your clothes without the dryer sheet and see if the smell is still there. If it is not, then the problem is the dryer sheet.
If it is, then you need to describe the smell better. Different people handle smells differently. What smells musty to you may smell fragrant to others.
You need to determine if the smell you don't like is really a musty smell, or is it a fragrance you don't like. Have some friends (not family members) smell the clothes and verify if what you are smelling is musty or fragrant.

It could also be that even though the clothes smell OK out of the washer, that the detergent you are using is the cause.

Smelly clothes after washing

yes musty is actually cooked soap
from the dryer
take a clean just washed towel and put it in the washer alone with no soap
turn on the machine and watch what happens you will see the suds start to form
with this unit, if your using too much soap it will be spun into the cloths and then cooked in the dryer
do one towel load without soap then cut you soap usage way back
anything more than a tablespoon is way to much

remember you bought this unit to save water

1/6 the water 1/6 the soap
and he should be less

Smell still in clothes

Try adding baking soda to the wash. We have the same issues (son works on a dairy farm) and will on clothing resort to chlorine bleach even on colors in small amounts. Eric

Clothes have a musty smell if left in the washer

Make shure to do a cleaning cycle. As well, wipe out the inside, the rubber gasket and the door when done washing for the day. We also have found that
leaving the door "Open" for several hours, when finnished, eliminates any future
smells.

The machine smells moldy...

moldy smell, may not be mold at all, in fact most "moldy musty" smells actually come from user not using proper detergents, you NEED to be using an HE detergent and little amounts of that even. cut back on fabric \softneer if using, www.affresh.com new product to help alleviate this issue

Clothes smell musty

Clean th filter in the front of tha machine. Than take an OLD towel and run a hot wash with chlorox.
After that you run it again with vinegar and that should relief your problem.
i have an LG too.
