You can also set the brush to the middle setting of the special/ normal brush settings. Also, your micro-sweep blade might have popped off making it very hard to push in that direction. The micro-sweep is the plate held by two screws right below the intake with the little blade that sticks up.

SOURCE: Loud noise

This is the clutch as it jams up in the brush. Usually happens with rugs that are not secured to the floor.

SOURCE: Powerhead woes

I've had my Hoover S3755 for about 2 years and loved it, at least until the last couple of months when the "belt slipping off" problem started. I changed the belt and the vacuum would work for a little while then the belt would come off again. I put on a new belt again and within minutes the belt had slipped off. I took it to my local vacuum repair about 4:00 in the afternoon. By 4:45 I got a call from the repairman that he'd fixed my vacuum! What did he do? He put a different belt on it. He put a Rainbow belt on my Hoover that's thicker and doesn't have as much "give" as the Hoover belt. It's also a little bit wider than the Hoover belt. Now when the brush slows or stops at a carpet edge the belt doesn't slide off.

SOURCE: rug beater does not work, vacuum does

The beater bar will turn itself off if something became lodged in the brushbar area - it turns itself off so that it doesn't cause any further damage. If this is the case, recline the machine, turn it on and press the gray button next to the red power button. This is the brushbar's ON/OFF switch. If that doesn't solve the problem, call the Dyson helpline for further assistance.

SOURCE: Bissell Lift OfF Brush Roller Stops Rotating

They make the worst machines, the rollers are cheap and they make it so you cant take them apart to clean them. You don't want a dyson either, they aren't any better for pets. With all that hardwood floors you should get a good canister vacuum, sebo and miele are the best.

I just purchased a Dyson big ball multi floor canister, and it is really hard to push on my new carpet at home, any fix?

i just got rid of my dyson dc 39 multifloor big ball vacuum. im guessing you have a high pile rug which the vacuum is not mostly intended for it works best with low pile carpets. that said there is a way, turn the brush part upside down so that the brushes are facing you,, at the front their are two screws if you unscrew them you will be able to lift up just the front long part of the brushroll, it has the option of being screwed on high or low so that you get better vacuuming from high pile carpets good luck

Is there an adjustment for a dyson vacuum?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Most Dyson vacuums are engineered to adjust automatically for different types of flooring, and for different types of carpet pile. However some also include a brush control feature, which allows you to turn off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors or delicate rugs.

If you can reply to confirm exactly which model of Dyson vacuum you own, and which aspect of the machine you want to adjust, I'll be happy to provide further information.

Alternatively you're welcome to call us and speak with our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I have a Dyson dc17 I have changed the belt cleaned the brush bar clean the bar motor reset the switch and still when i vacuum the brush bar just stops does not rattle. does not do it on bare floors or...

hooked rugs produce the highest amount of friction opposing the brush rotation, which can over heat the drive motor. try using a height setting that raises the brush so that it barely touches the pile. If this issue has been going on for some time, you may need to replace the drive motor.
