Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have an AVOL ALT3213M TV 32'' LCD and a minute or two after turning on, the screen goes black (but the sound stays working OK). If I turn the TV off and wait a few minutes, the screen comes up OK when the TV is turned on again, but the problem recurs after another minute of two.

Might be the backlight is out, can you see a picture when shining a flashlight on the screen. if yes you have either a bad inverter power supply or bad screen (panel).
both are serious , also could be just a few bad capacitors on the power supply, if you want you can do a visual of the power board caps will appear swollen on top and are easy to solder in cost about $1 each

I turn my tv on the picture and sound all work and after about 20min the picture goes to a black screen and I still have my sound. I turned the tv off wait about 5 min turn it back on the picture come on...

If you have electronics experience - check the power supply and make sure you are getting the correct voltage to your inverter boards and main av board - also do you see any movement on the screen take a flashlight and shine on the screen - if you can see a dark image on the screen check inverter boards and power first.

thanks,

michael

Dynex 32" tv picture goes black

If there is still about ? 24. Volts coming from the Power Board when it goes dark, it will be the Inverter board that needs replacing. If not, it is the Power Board that needs replacing. The Voltages should be written next to the sockets & plugs on the Power Board.

Sound stays on, but no picture- goes black and stays that way.

This unit should still be under warranty and should be taken in for warranty service. Any attempt to access the interior will void the warranty. It is important that a complete description of the problem like you entered here be taken along when you bring the set in for service. This will insure that the servicer be able to reproduce the problem and resolve it.

From your description (and as a servicer), I would be looking for a component that is heat sensitive. These types of problems are fairly easy to locate and resolve.

Please take this in for warranty service and update this when you find out the details.

Thanks,
Dan
