Right-click on my computer, choose properties, hardware, device manager and see if the webcam is displayed anywhere.
If not, you need to go to HP.com and get the webcam software/drivers.
If it is, try downloading skype and seeing if it can power up your webcam. You may be able to do the same with MSN, but the msn webcam software is slow and ****.
The HP laptops integrated webcam only work with the Cyberlink Youcam software. If you do not have this installed, below is the link for it. Click on the link below and scroll to the bottom, you will see the link to the download.
Some DV6000 have web cams other's don't. It all depends on the model you have and if there is actually one in the housing. I have seen people who have DV6000 that did not come with one, change out the lid with one that did have a camera and just plug in the camera plug and download the camera software and it will fire right up. If your dv6000 has a camera, go to the HP website...here... http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
Put your units model number in the box and choose to go to the driver page. The web cams on DV6000 use the Cyberlink Youcam software and drivers for activation, and will work on most messengers and they also come with tutorials to guide you through the process.
