My 4GB PNY pendrive is not detected on winXP sp3

You probably need to buy another pendrive because this problem can be caused by damaged chips.

Plug the pendrive to the back usb port of your pc :D it worked for me

try using this software to format the transcend pendrive . use it in XP or Vista www [dot].transcend [dot] nl/support/dlcenter/ORT_Software.asp?Link=OnLineRecovery.exe

You should try and blow into the usb end of the memory stick, and also into the Port on the computer where the usb stick goes in. This most often helps. If not, you may need to write to the makers of the stick, and complain. They will most often replace it for you, if you have had it less than a year and a half.

the computer is not seeing it properly un plug,then refit ,are the contacts clean,

right click my computer got manage>disk management. see if it shows up at the bottom. if so make sure it has a drive letter and is formatted and is active. otherwise it might be a bad thumb drive

I tried this but my pendrive is not recognized when i plug it in windows sees it and says its installed but there is nothing there and i cant even format it killdisk will see it but says its busy and wont display any other info on it

go dos command and find these drive ( pen drive) try to formate it,

Click > Start > Run > type "CMD" Then
Type "CHKDSK" and type the letter of your Pendrive and "/F".
chkdsk Q: /F > press Enter

another example:
chkdsk D: /f
chkdsk E: /f
D or E is the letter or your pendrive.

when i duble click on my pendrive icon it shows please insert a new disk. and it even doesnt open up
