Staples Mailmate
SOURCE: My mailmate shredder from Staples
unfortunately you will have to do it by hand!!!!!!!!
unplug, get a flat head screwdriver, take off top and turn upside down. you will see a lot of sredded paper where the teeth are, you need to clear all of that.
it may also be that you have a stale or something of that nature blocking the teeth.
Also do a reverse, I did one over the weekend and had to do it several times while cleaning it out, very messy so make sure you do it somewhere that you can easily clean up, also don't forget you are supposed to use a special lube paper once in a while. (Office Depot,/Max/Staples

UNPLUG THE UNIT FIRST…….OKAY!!??
If this shredder is like most nowadays, they have a sensor
that detects paper when it’s put into the shredder and a sensor when it exits
the unit. Look for a small black squares
with another square directly across from it. (<sensors)
Make sure nothing is between any of these sensors.(and clean if you have
to) (plug in and test again) (then unplug if that didn’t fix it) There is a piece of cut paper that’s stopping
the motor’s torque from reversing or feeding the cutting rollers. Sometimes a plastic gear breaks. If they are ….its trash!!…..You will have to
take the covers off to see. Eyeball it
real good…(put your glasses on if you need to) If no gears are broken, look on
the ends of the assembly that holds the two cutting rollers together.
Before we get to far…..check and see if there is a breaker
(or fuse that has blown) The book sez it’s
a 12 sheet shredder…..The manual should tell you what weight of the paper being
shredded . (the maximum weight of
the paper) 20lb. bond etc…..If the fuse is blown replace it with the same size..(read the
small numbers on the end of the fuse and don’t use anything else!!!....(fire hazard!) If the fuse isn’t blown check and see if the
power outlet is good…… If all is good, make sure when you take it apart the two
cutting rollers that you put all the screws back in the same place they came
out of …(very important) (write down the positions if you have to) When putting the unit back together…don’t over
tighten . The plastic molding blocks
strip out very easily. Don’t lube
anything. Paper fibers will be drawn toward anything lubed……(shortening the life of the unit)
Good Luck!!!!! Tell me if this helps!!!!

There is a 10mm 5amp @ 250v fuse on the main board that is probally blown . I unsoldered mine and soldered a pigtail fuse holder with a convient sized 5 amp fuse inside in its place . The shredder is not too bad to take apart , the head comes apart from the body of the shredder .Turn it upside down and you will see 6 or 7 phillips screws .Once these are removed the head assembly opens up and you will see the circuit board which is held in place by 2 phillips screws. A quick ohm meter test will reveal the fuse condition. It was an easy fix just MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE UNIT UNPOWERED while you work on it or its unassembled.
SOURCE: cant find standby operation
All shredders shut down within afew seconds if they do not detect paper inserted. Safety feature.
