Check that the inlet hose is not kinked or blocked, and ensure that inlet line has sufficient pressure.

Check that the water level switch is not stuck.

Try unplugging appliance power cord for five minutes (or trip circuit breaker) to reset appliance control board.

If you do not find anything, then there is probably a fault, parts to be tested are inlet valve (Ohming solenoid, energizing), Water level (bridge it, read continuity), and control board by reading volts. On some model you may also need to test pressure switch located near to the pump.

Hotpoint dishwasher buzz when turned on an thats all it does

If the buzz stops when you open the door it could be the water solenoid valve which if it is not filling with water there is a 90% chance it is the valve. Turn off the water supply going the dishwasher under the sink or by the pipe. Pull the dishwasher out and unplug it if the hose length allows it to pull out. Put a towel or pan under the dishwasher hose connection disconnecting the hose on the dishwasher valve. Remove the racks and tip the unit forward with the unit unplugged and unbolt the valve where the water inlet is connected. Undo the hose clamp and wire connector. Check the valve or order a replacement and reinstall clamps and connectors. Be very careful when using the unit the first few times that no water leaks from hose connections by using a tissue touching the connections to see if water is present. Mold sucks so use a flash light looking in the front panel and tissue even after replacing the unit back in its final place.

It turned out that the pipe bringing the water into the machine had a kink in it. We pulled the machine out and straightened it. A dishwasher technician suggested we look to see if the pipe taking water away from the machine might be the problem, but it was the incoming water pipe.

Dishwasher won't work

9 times out of 10, when this happens, the fill valve has gone bad. Thats the little valve with 2 wires that your inlet waterline attaches to. They are inexpensive to buy and easy to install. You normally don't even need to pull the dishwasher out. To test the dishwasher before you go to the trouble, pour a bucket of hot water into the dishwasher and turn it on. You'll have to wait a couple of minutes before it will turn on. If it works properly spraying the water around inside, then it's just a bad fill valve.

Bosch dishwasher SHU9922UC

Sounds like you already know how to fix it. The inlet valve is only held closed by water pressure...if you have low water pressure it could be causing this. Its more likely just a bad fill valve though. The water inlet valve is accessed by removinf the lower kickplate and the sheild behind that. Then all you have to do is remove the water line from the valve, remove the 2 screws holding it and pull it out far enough to disconnect the 2(possibly 3) wires and the fill hose. Make sure to mark where your wires go, if you hook it up wrong it could continue to fill and overflow. Hope this helps!
