I'm downloading from my old VCR to my old Dell Dimension. I can download the video, but when I play it off the computer, there's no sound. There are just a couple of cables to plug in, so I don't know what else could be wrong. It said that sound is handled by the sound card, but what might be wrong ?? All other applications play sound properly, but I'm trying to bring in sound, but no-go.
Make sure your audio out from the VCR goes into your sound card's IN device. Then also go into your sound properties and make sure the level is up for the Line IN. After doing that, try another record(download) and test the sound. If it still doesn't work, check Dell Movie Studio Plus' preferences see if anything about what input your using. I'm not familiar with this specific software, but related packages sometimes in preferences there are options to select different inputs. (in case you have more channels or multiple sound cards)
If you are using Windows as your OS, make sure you have the newest drivers for your dell, check for drivers here.

The driver for my IEEE 1394 host controller (texas instruments)and my driver for movie studio plus both come up with a yellow exclamation mark, code 12, which says the device cannot find enough resoures.
I think this happened after I upgraded my bios from A05 to A08 for large disk support. I was installing a 300 GB hard drive as a second source of storage. After I did the bios up grade and HD installation, I was exploring my computer when I found these yellow exclamation points.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both drivers, (several times) and I have removed the Movie Stuio Plus IEEE 1394 card and put it into another PCI slot. I have also done a repair install of Windows XP (Professional). None of these procedures eradicated the problem.
Thanks for your help.
