Compressor will not start up, there is a humming noise and them it clicks off.

You have a bad compressor or a bad overload-relay-capacitor. It is worth repairing if it is the overload relay cap., but is not worth repairing if it is a compressor. Unless it is still within a system warranty, which is usually 5 years on the compressor freon system. I recommend you have the manufacturers warranty service company diagnose this if you still have a warranty. If you use another company the manufacturer can void your warranty. If it is out of warranty and the parts are cheap enough, and you have the mechanical know how, you can replace the overload-relay-capacitor with a new one or a generic new unit in some cases, and then test the refer. If it works, great. If it doesn't you need to buy a new refrigerator as most compressor jobs cost 900 to 1100.00 Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Heat Pump compressor replacement

thats what it takes to replace compressor. Slightly easier on residential. And price will depend on how big AC is. But 1200-1600 seems right

New outside compressor 4 ton Ruud 13 seer unit.

Sounds like a compressor needs to be replaced. You will need a service tech to make sure of it. Sometimes the compressor can work for a long time that way. Check your warranty. Usually compressors will have longer warranty on it.

Compressor Problem WeatherKing 13AJA36A01

Your warranty on your WeatherKing is five years on the compressor. When you buy a compressor to go in your unit it is 1 year. Several resons for bad valves. Dirty evaporator coil, overcharged and bad evap fan motor. James

Does my 10-seer have a 10 year compressor warranty?

If you take all the numbers off the compressor and condesning unit and call an authorized RUUD parts dealer in your area, they should be able to verify your inquiry.

Unless there was a special circumstance, most compressor warranties are 5 years, unless the compressor was replaced during the 5 year period, in which case you should get 5 more years assuming the service was performed by an authorized service company.

Beverage air single door freezer compressor

OH well that's a real easy question to answer.

All the compressor manufacturers have a 1 year replacement warranty (just on the compressor). Any labor freight and mils like driers, freon, cleaner ... items are not covered.
Now you may be able to purchase an extended warranty for up to 5 years total. Some contractors offer their own warranty for extension. But ask yourself how much is it really worth to have ? Extended warranties are an additional cost and is not under the manufacturers warranty. So for the 1st year its the manufacturer anyway and on some manufacturers (Copeland) it is limited to 3 compressors total within the 12 months. So an extended may also be limited withn the 5 years.

And if your loosing compressors from 2 different causes, 1 electrical and 1 mechanical. And if the initial problems were inerrant in the compressors individually, the likely occurrence in the next 5 years is really remote in my opinion. Assuming the coil is kept clean and grease and paper is not allowed to block the condenser air and the defrost doesn't go haywire, and the electrical to the unit is kept within specifications and the replacement compressor was given a new drier clean refrigerant and maybe some acid cleaner.. But to me $700.00 for a whole job on a fractional compressor sounds really, pardon, cheep.

The reason is that if you hve more than 3 failures something else is causing them besides the compressors. (And I contend to agree). I have only had 1 compressor job that kept failing year after year. And the incompient rebuilder (Owens Hermetic OKC) kept rebuilding the same compressor body except for the 3rd time I talked the owner into getting a remanufactured one and that was because I took the old one apart and found the cylender walls scored and therefore the piston and rings were not sealing. And every winter the refrigerant would migrate into the compressor on the first cold day and boom no compressor.

Extended warranties (as far as i know) from an outside warranty company may not be as good as the paper it is written on. in other words I have seen 2 warranty company go belly up within the past 25 years. But not within the past 10.

Hope this helps answer your question. Let em know If I need to tell you more. If I helped you please give me as high a rating as you can. Thank you and good luck.

I bought a Frigidare refrigerator today. Warranty needed?

its really just up to you. I am a service tech in grants pass oregon and i know compressors dont last anymore. Its because in the last 10 years they have switched from r12 freon to 134a. 134a has higher head pressures which make the compressor go out. If the compressor warranty isnt too much money i would do that warranty. You dont really need the others.

WeatherKing Unit needs compressor and is under warranty

have you contacted the company who installed ? try there first, if no luck with the company, contact the manufacture directly, explain to them your problem and try to have them help you with getting the company who installed to do the right thing and replace the compressor under warranty, you may have to pay a warranty install charge, but it would be alot less than having to pay for a whole new compressor, or new unit, put your ducks in a row, get model and serial numbers, date of install, who installed it, and the manufactures warranty on the compressor, that way you will be ahead of the game, best of luck, hope that helped

Warranty on compressor

The actual age of your unit can be determined by the serial number. Based on the age indicated there they can tell you if the warranty is still valid. Your local Rheem/weather king dealer can do this for you. Most compressor warranties are either 5 or 10 years. Good Luck!
