oil pressure problem should be checked independently of other problems...Use a good accurate mechanical gauge to check. If pressure is good (no less than 15psi at idle hot (I prefer to see at least 20) check dash grounding, block ground and if OK, change sending unit. Dash and body ground can influence operation of shift and body control modules so indirectly your problem may or may not be related, depending upon what you find while testing. And it could turn out to be a defective module! They are expensive and just plugging new ones in may work, but then again, it might not. I might be totally incorrect on this...that's the value of actually being there instead of doing this by "remote control".
If you read the numerous posts pertaining to all vehicles, you will see that you are not alone with electrical problems...As long as the engineers who design this stuff, keep using "modules" to replace ordinary simple and reliable systems, we will continue to have these problems. Do some testing and I'm sure you will find a solution! (I'm still waiting for someone to make a program for a PC that will give a complete readout of every system in a vehicle, including exact faults instead of general system "suggestions")
Good luck

SOURCE: jeep grand cherokee slow to start

THE THINGS YOU MENTIONED WON'T AFFECT CRANK SPEED. YOU'RE BATTERY IS PROBABLY ON THE WAY OUT THE DOOR. LOOK FOR CORROSION AND LEAKING BATTERYLIKE AROUND TERMINALS AND POSTS. BATTERY IS PROBABLY LOW ON CCA'S. NOW IF TALKING ABOUT WON'T START AND TAKES LONG CRANK TIMES IT CAN BE FUEL PUMP LOSING PRESSURE IN FUEL RAIL OR LACK OF FUEL PRESSURE CONSIDERING WHAT YOU MENTIONED. EVAP SOLENOID WILL USUALY SET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WONT AFFECT STARTING USUALLY UNLESS YOU HAVE A HUGE VACUUM LEAK

SOURCE: Very rough idle on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition V8

If you haven't changed the plugs or had the fuel system cleaned, now would be a good time to do it. The number 1 culprit for rough idles is dirty injectors or plugs. You can try an injector cleaner in a can (or bottle) for under $10 and see if it helps, and then work from there. If there isn't any improvement then if you are able to, check the plugs for any gunky buildup and if you find a bad plug, make sure you replace them all (or have them replaced) at the same time.

2000 Grand Jeep Cherokee Limited, V 8. Just died at a red light. We got push it to the side of the road and 2-3 mins it started. This has happen 3-4 times. What could be the problem?

Right after it stalls (and you are in a safe place) Turn the key on and listen for the fuel pump to come on (in the tank). If you don't hear it, likely it is going bad. When they do that, the pump gets hot and binds...after it cools off it starts working again.
If you can hear the pump, chances are that the crank position sensor is failing. The symptoms are nearly identical.

Hard starting when cold, smelly exhaust

Car exhaust starts to smell bad (like rotten eggs) because of the sulfur content in the fuel and the catalytic converter not functioning properly. This can be a dangerous situation if the cat goes bad or gets clogged because they do operate at a very high temperature and if clogged can cause a fire. Run the car for awhile and look at the cat. If it is glowing red, turn the car off immediately (It's clogged), and don't drive it until the cat is changed out. Source(s):

Error code P 0161 for 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited V8

Its related to the oxygen sensor and/or oxygen sensor heater. There are 4 sensors the Jeep is equipped with.

In most cases one of the recommended solution for all those faults is a sensor replacement, however before doing that and spending a lot of money. Go to auto zone and have them tell you what O2 sensor is bad buy it and replace it. Go back to them to have the code cleared. O2 sensors run 20-50bucks. Good Luck

Not shifting until 4000 rpms then very slow accel.

Check condition of the tranny fluid it should be pink. Bring the jeep to a muffler place and have them check the cat convertor for blockage.
