Question about Polaris 380 In Ground Pool Cleaner

The wheels do not turn. - Polaris 380 In Ground Pool Cleaner

I have already checked the pressure, cleaned out the skimmers, backwashed the filter, cleaned the in-line filter etc. It is getting plenty of suction. All wheels turn in unison so the drive belts are working good. In addition, I have taken the unit apart and blown out all the lines to remove any obstructions.

    Any other ideas?

First, check to be sure you are getting adequate water pressure to the unit. If not, check your baskets, filters, pump, etc. One of these will be the problem. There is also a filter at the inlet for the Polaris to check.

Next, try spinning each wheel manually - one at a time. Each other wheel should move with the one you turn. If not, replace the drive belt.

Check the turbine wheel and see if it is damaged or stuck.

If you can turn the turbine and get the wheels to turn then you're back to water pressure as a potential problem.

Steering wheel locked up

Just a question that might help.
Are the wheels straight or turned at a hard angle? If the wheels are angled turn the steering wheel in the same direction and then try to turn the key with pressure still on the steering wheel. You have to take the pressure off the stop to have the key cylinder turn.
If the wheels are straight have you tried a different key?

UNABLE TO UNLOCK STEERING WHEEL

Grasp the steering wheel firmly with one hand and turn the wheel towards the direction the front wheels are facing. The wheel will be hard to turn but you will by trying to relieve pressure from the lock. While holding the wheel off the lock turn the ignition key. It should turn easily as long as you are holding tension on the steering wheel.

Locked up Steering Wheel

Your Wheels may not be straight which could cause the steering wheel lock to get stuck. Turn the steering wheel left and right, from one stop to the other, watching how far the wheel travels. Now, turn the wheel to the center of the travel distance and turn the key. If this doesn't free it up, turn the key as you turn the steering wheel left then right to get the lock to release the wheel. Hope this helps and please rate my solution - and thanks for using Fixya!!

Car parked uphill .front wheel turned left to block wheels on the curb. can't turn ignition key

Hi!
Turn steering wheel left while turning the key on the ignition. When you park with your wheels turn either way, There is pressure exerted on the wheel lock, like trying to turn a dead bolt lock while pulling the door. Turning the wheel towards the side where the wheel are turned will relieve that pressure and let the cylinder lock turn free.

Subaru 03 Forester - problem in front differential, 3 wheels turn

Thumping noises and vibrations can be something as simple as a tread separation(or a big bubble) on one of your tires. As for the one wheel turning---that's perfectly normal. If you grab the wheel that's turning (not really recommended) and stop it completely, the other wheel will spin.

Left wheel does not turn, axle turns but wheel does not turn.

You need to remove that wheel and replace the key stock
the axle and wheel should have a factory slot cut in the drive axle and wheel itself
1/4 inch key stock is the most popular and it can be found at most hardware stores.
You also could have what some would call a half moon keyway in the center of the shaft which you cannot see untill you remove the wheel.

Steering wheel jumps along with clanking noise when wheel is turned hard.

jack up the front wheels one at a time, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or left and turn the wheel by hand. i think you have a bad u-joint behind the front wheel(s). if you have a bad u-joint then the wheels won't turn smoothly.

good luck
