Please confirm which of two is at fault. you can connect a DVD using the same RCA jacks, the red and whilte for audio and the yellow for the video. If the TV works then we are clear on the TV or we need to check other inputs on the TV. If so the PSP has encountered and error and it can be due to a memory crash after it was shut down.see if there is an error code or if this PS3 does not boot at all there is an hardware issue. check this link for support: http://us.playstation.com/support/?s=ps3#ps3x
Make sure the cables are plugged in correctly since this is mostly the case, either you have not put the yellow lead or scart socket in properly or
You have to hook it back up to an hdmi and change the setting back to your normal audio/ video settings
If all that fails, sony customer service will ask you to; hold your finger on the "turn on" button for 5 secs when you turn it on, you will hear a second beep and
it will reset the settings.
Turn off the system, Then when its in standby mode when the red light is on, press and hold the button to turn it on, Wait untill you hear 3 beeps then let go if the system turns off try it again its a master reset then just restore factory settings
i have a tv that only has the audio out put and video out put as well . and my playstation 2 works on it. just plug the white and yellow ends in to your tv and it will still work without you unplugging any cables. hope this helps.
try to trouble shoot if the wire is the problem, how? remove the 3 colored wires from the tv and ps2 then try to use the red color instead of yellow to the video from tv and ps2 (both red) temporarily do not use the yellow color. once a picture appears use now the white for the audio (both white) for left audio once there is a sound you may try the yellow for the right audio. i hope this will help you and hear a positve reply from you.
Hey i just posted i have the same problem as you do but then I checked the SONY PS3 website and it solved my problem. Try resetting your video output. I'll paste what it says on the PS3 website but if that doesn't solve your problem go to the website. They have a bunch of troubleshooting solutions for this problem...

remains blank for more than 30 seconds, you may need to perform the
following steps to reset the Video Output Settings.
Make sure the Component AV Cable is connected to the [AV MULTI-OUT] port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system.
Connect the other end of the Component AV Cable into the video and audio RCA jacks of the TV or display monitor.
While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the
front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on
the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again .
(So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light
--> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held
down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
Turn ON the PLAYSTATION 3 and once the system finishes powering up,
the Video Output Settings will automatically be reset to the standard
resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your
I have a ps2 also so just hook up the yellow and white plugs. It will work if you connect those 2 right but you must have a remote to turn it to game mode or no lucc. This is where i'm at right now trying to find my remote..hahaha
