SOURCE: Garmin Nuvi 610 I've lost all maps :(

If your map detail is missing, then the map information may have been disabled. To check to see if the mapping has been disabled, follow the steps below:

  1. Power the unit ON.
  2. From the Where to? and View Map page, touch the Wrench icon (Tools).
  3. Touch Map.¹
  4. Touch Map Info.
  5. The unit should display the name of the map that is loaded to the unit. The box in front of the map name should have a checkmark in it. If it does not, touch the box to place a checkmark in it.
  6. Touch and hold the back button.

If the map detail is still missing, contact Garmin Product Support at 1-800-800-1020 M-F 8-7cst.

Note:
  1. Some units may require touching Settings before touching Map.

SOURCE: No Maps on My GARMIN nuvi 200W

I bought the nuvi 200w and when I registered the unit it said that there was an updated map available so I down loaded and installed it. When I turned the unit on, it said no detailed maps available and would not work. I called garmin and they said that to fix it I had to hook the nuvi up to my computer and start>my computer>nuvi>garmin there is a file called gmapprom.img (shows over 1,000,000 mb) delete this file. Open all programs>garmin>mapsource highlight the areas on the map that you want and click on the add to device icon. After doing this, my nuvi is working fine. The explanation was that the original file had files for Canada that were not unlocked. Try this and good luck!

SOURCE: GARMIN NUVI 200 SAYS NO DETAILED MAPS FOUND THAT SUPPORT ROUTING

I was having the same problem. NO DETAILED MAPS FOUND SUPPORT ROUTING & SO ON. I called Garmin this morning & I thought I would be on the phone forever with the gentleman. But I was on for less then 10 minutes. The guy asked me to connect my Nuvi to the computer using a usb cable, then asked me to go into my computer & look for the device/drive that my Garmin is using. He then prompted me to open the file that says Garmin & asked me if there was this file that said gmapprom.unl. I told him no & then he sent me the file through an email. I had to open the file & get it into the Garmin file. Then he asked me to disconnect my Nuvi from my computer & it started right up & the problem was gone. If you do have the same problem I am willing to email you the file he sent me if you would like because there is no possble way to get the file from just searching on the computer. Let me know. Hi,
Take a look at this site, http://www.garmin.be/missing.html Download and unzip the software, plug your garmin in the USB and start the updater.exe program. It gets you started again. Later on you can use the Webupdater to get possible newer software..
It worked for me and my Zumo550

SOURCE: Is there any free map updates for the garmin nuvi?

Asmany as there are FREE dinners Updates are not free, unless you paid full price for it when you bought it. Free upgrades are a deceptive myth. If you get a free uograde its usually minor and was included in the price of the pack.

How do i reset my garmin nuvi 200w satnav it says no detailed maps found how can i reinstall them

Locate the reset button, located on the back of the device, in the lower left corner. Remove the sticker covering the button, and use a straightened paper clip to depress the tab.

To reinstall maps

Connect your Garmin Nuvi to your computer via USB cable. You can only update the maps through connecting to your computer.

Open the "myGarmin" website and sign in with your Garmin account. Make sure to sign in with the account that you've purchased the map updates on.

heres a link to the site;

http://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/login.htm.

Click the "myMaps" tab on the myGamrin dashboard. This will load a list of all of your purchased map upgrades.

Click the drop-down menu in the "Recent Map Purchases" section. Select your Garmin Nuvi from the list of devices.

Install the Garmin Communicator Plugin when prompted. This is required in order for the Garmin website to transfer the map files to your Gamrin software on your computer.

Download and install Garmin Express. This is the program that allows your computer to interact with your Garmin Nuvi.

Register your device in Garmin Express. If you haven't already registered your device, you'll be prompted to when you start Garmin Express. You'll need to register in order to update the maps.

Click the "Updates" tab in Garmin Express. This will show all of the available updates for your Nuvi, including the new map update you just purchased.

Click the "Show Details" option next to your Map Update. Click the "Install" button that appears. You will need to accept the agreement before the update installs.

Wait for the maps to download and install. Once you agree to the terms, the map update will begin downloading to Garmin Express, and will then be transferred to your Nuvi. This will likely take several minutes to complete.

Close Garmin Express and unplug the Nuvi when the update is complete. The Nuvi will reboot and begin installing the updated software on the device. This may take another couple of minutes.

If you weren't automatically prompted to install Garmin Express, you can download it from

When trying to put in an address the Garmin asks me for a country and then does not accept it after typing in the first letter. The other functions appear to be ok.

Hello

you need to update your map

Purchase your map updates (if necessary). You can purchase map updates for your Garmin Nuvi from the Garmin website. There are two basic options: a lifetime purchase or a one-time upgrade. The lifetime purchase gives you access to any new updates for the life of your device, while the one-time upgrade will provide you with the latest current maps, but you'll need to purchase again if you want to upgrade again later.

Make sure to log in with your myGarmin account before purchasing the map upgrade.

Connect your Garmin Nuvi to your computer via USB cable.

Open the "myGarmin" website and sign in with your Garmin account. Make sure to sign in with the account that you've purchased the map updates on.

I know I've tried. You either live with the old map or but the latest version.
I bought the life time maps updates and I'm glad I did.
I've updated my maps at least 6 times.
New maps are about $70.
Life time maps are about $99 (when I bought mine)
BUT FIRST make SURE you have the latest software in YOUR computer and in YOUR Garmin before you load any maps.
You can get that FREE at Garmin here:

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 To download the latest unit software visit Garmin website: www.garmin.com/webupdater
After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start", "Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.
