SOURCE: Sony HCD-BC150 As soon as I turn it on, it shuts

Change the audio amplifier IC are on short circuit and that´s the cause your device goes to protect mode

SOURCE: Protection displayed and shuts off

I had a similar problem and managed to fix it. It is not necessarily your case, but in mine the output filter capacitor in the central speaker channel got broken - it had a crack on its body. Replacement of the capacitor fixed the shutdown on protection.
Another question is what damaged the cap. It could be just a bad device or there was something overlooked during development of the home theater. Preliminary I consider placement of the capacitors as a possible problem - they are too close to the output inductors which can get relatively hot even at normal working condition. Anyway you can look at my solution - I posted it: http://craftsman-hambs.blogspot.com/2009/09/samsung-home-theater-ht-x40-shut-down.html

Hello, I have a prob with my Sony HCD-RV999D I just bought it from a friend, I plug the outlet everything is normal, I press the power button, the system turns on normally, but after 3 second it turns...

The reason this happens is because it takes about 3 to 5 sec. for the output circuit relay to kick in after power up, im sure at this point is when your receiver shuts off and flashes red. You have a bad output Transister its shorted to ground and the sony's protection circuit kicks in and shuts it down. Unless you are a electronic Tech. you will have to take it in to be repaired its going to be about 120 dollars to repair. Now im assuming your speakers are ok, if you have them hooked up when you do this try disconnecting them and try to power up if it does you have a shorted speaker, but normally Sony just displays overload protection on the display. Im sure you have a shorted Trans. sorry for the bad news good luck.
