SOURCE: The tension on the recumbent exercise bike does not get hard

If your bike has magnetic resistance and you changed the batteries this should make your tension work properly. Since it did not I believe that there are magnets somewhere on your bike that are wearing out. Or it could be a computer part. Your manual should tell what part you need to order and replace. I hope this information has been helpful.

Also make sure the batteries that you put in your bike are really new ones. Sometimes you can purchase new batteries at a store and they are actually a little weak. I had this problem with an elyptical trainer and I went and got other batteries and this fixed the problem.

SOURCE: tension pulley

It's a normal bolt, righty tighty lefty loosey. Try some DB Blaster and let it soak. Another thick is to tap the head of the bolt from side to side so as to loosen the rust. Good luck.

SOURCE: The magnetic resistence level seems to be the same

This unit incorporates an adjusting motor for the magnetic boot. This unit also uses batteries for the upper console functions I would check the batteries first and replace them, if you haven't done so before.
If this does not resolve the problem then it could be the adjusting motor, then you will have to pull the the side panels in order to apply a 6v dc to the motor and see if it moves smoothly, if not then replace motor.

I hav an edge 426 magnetic bike an there is no resistance/tension. how do i correct this?

Hi There, does this machine adjust resistance with a turn knob or via electronic buttons? If it's a crank or turn style resistance adjustment, this is usually positioning a pair of magnets near a spinning disk inside that front cover. Electrical "magnetic" resistance units use an Eddy-Current brake system which also produces a magnetic field near the spinning disk, either way the magnetic attraction properties will stop any metal (conductive) disk from spinning, or at least provide a resistance to it spinning ;o) Crank tension units have a cable and pulley system inside. Good Luck

It sounds like you are dealing with a stretched chain. If the chain will not tension any further, you may be looking at the need to purchase a new chain. Use your model and serial number at the following link to order a new chain.

Resistance settings not working on fitnex r70 magnetic resistance exercise bike

If this is a new bike that may be the way it is. If it worked differently in the past, you may be looking at a busted tension motor or faulty brake.

How do i adjust the tension on a ActionC100 exercise bike

I just fixed a C100with the same problem today as follows:
Take off the pedals, seat pole, and side panels ( 3 long screws on the top and 4 short screws on the bottom then push out [from the inside] the pedal shaft outlet covers and gently take the covers off by turning the pedal shaft). You'll see the cable to the wheel and secure it to the lower chassis rail by tape or a cable tie, then undo the lock nut on the cable end and extend the screwed sleeve by 10 mm. You'll then see that pulling and releasing the outer cable will loosen and tighten the magnetic brake more smoothly. Good Luck, Andy

Bought a bike xq max magnetic exercise bike but it is not working properly as it is quite stiff to cycle and does not have a smoothness needed for an exercise bike. The tension is at the lowest level but...

For whatever reason, looks like you have a machine needing service or adjustment.
Best to take it apart, and test each of the "systems" and see if you can find the mal-function.
I'd say either the adjustment handle, or the cable, or the mechanism is not working freely.
Cleaning, or oiling or parts replacement may be in order, depending on what part you find "binding" upon your inspection.
God bless your efforts.

The tension adjustment does not get difficult enough

If you are refering to a regular bicycle this means the derailer is not making the chain jump from gear to gear. You probably need a new shifter cable or the shifter cable came unhooked from the derailer. I would take your bike to a bike shop to have this reconnected and then they will adjust it for you.

If you are refering to an exercise bike then here may be your solution. From what I have seen on exercise bikes there are three different kind of bikes. I am refering to how there resistance works.

First type has a strap that wraps around the wheel. There is a some kind of a nut and a bolt that holds that strap around the wheel. You simply need to tighten that nut. The strap will stretch over time and that is why you do not have the same resisteace you had when the bike was new. Afer you tighten this you will find that regular tensioner works better.

The Second type of exercise bike has what appears to be brake pads contacting the wheel. Basically your peddaling the bike with the brakes on. Pretty simple concept. Again there should be some sort of adjustment around this pad that is touching the wheel. Probably a screw or a bolt. Some even have adjusters that you can turn with your fingers.

The new and improved exercise bikes have what is called magnetic resistance. This is where your resitance is created by a magnet and some sort of power source such as batteries or your bike being plugged into a wall outlet. If you are using batteries replace them. I found that with my elyptical exerciser new batteries made a world of difference in the resistance settings. If changing the batteries doesn't help then there may be another problem. This could be the computer. Just check your user manual and I am sure you can get it replaced.

Healthstream genesis exercise bike

This depends on the model you have. There are lots of genesis bikes have manual resistance knobs on the main post, right in front of the seat. If it doesn't have a knob here, then it might be electronically operated in which case there might be a problem if it isn't adjusting with the program.
