Hi, has anyone else had a problems installing a PCI soundcard on K7S41GX? I have Creative Audigy SE and I have tried everything and still got no sound.
I have tried to remove on board audio drivers, disable on board audio from windows and enable it, put it to auto -mode or disable it from BIOS. I even updated the BIOS.
When I install Audigy drivers, everything, I mean EVERYTHING looks fine! All Creative tests are passing and only problems are NO SOUND and when I play a sound file, it stops at 20-30 sec. Or not.
Suggestions??
And I mean it! There is absolutely no visible errors on windows! I have checked everything.
I have tried with SB Audigy SE and SB AudioPCI 128. Excactly sam thing happens with the older card.
On another pc, Audigy and AudioPCI 128 worked with no problems.
Win XP Pro. I have tried every output on the soundcard with all speaker setups using stereo audio amplifier and 3,5mm to RCA cable. Also tried headphones and Creative 2.1 speaker system.
With my old (AMD K6-2 500Mhz) pc it worked fine with Win XP Pro. Win XP Pro. I have tried every output on the soundcard with all speaker setups using stereo audio amplifier and 3,5mm to RCA cable. Also tried headphones and Creative 2.1 speaker system.

All checked, checked and double checked. Maybe there is something wrong on the motherboard. I haven't tried any else PCI Peripherals than those two Creative sound cards... Also tested in PCI slot 1 without AGP video card. I have to use PCI slot 2, there is no room because of video card. All checked, checked and double checked. I got a mobo with built-in audio but we all know built-in doesn't deliver that much when you wanted more out of it. Anyway, I tried to put in Sound Blaster PCI128 with its newest driver created 2002 but it doesn't produce any sound. I did disable the onboard chip/audio and the Win XP sure did a good job detecting it. There was no compatibility issue and no device conflict, in fact, I could see media player playing but couldn't hear any sound. I did set it as my default. My speaker works fine with other audio device as well as the sound card works with other mobo without a built-in. So, how could I resolve this problem??? Audio Connectors on card are connected to cdroms, dvdroms,tv cards, etc.
under device manager, dont let system shut off device
do you have it selected as the default sound device under control panel: sound?
and:
disable onboard from BIOS
use lime colored jack on card.
make sure that

You may have to disable the build in soundcard on the mainboard, in the device manager when you install the driver for the creative sound card. Here could be a conflict between these to this is maybe why you have the code 12.

Hi
it will be a little bit long prosses , but lets start after you finished , let me know, if problem is solved or exist,
as you know the best soloution is to have cd that it came with your pc or your sound card.
but i assume you don't have it,
updating the driver ,doesn't mean it always make is better(they are spose to be ) so you had to roll back as soon as you saw the problem. is ok
1- go to windows update ,chose custom , look at left panel to see if windows offer hardware update , is so(your soundcard might be one of them) download them and restar your pc.
if it did not solve ,
first make restoration point on your system restoration(please don't forget)
uninstal driver make sure ther is nothing left from your sound card.
turnoff your pc , disconect the power and open your pc , take the soundcard out , turn on your pc . and turn it off now instal your sound card ,back , start pc , windows should pickup your sound card ,
please let me know if these steps did help ,if not post what was theresult for more assistanse
thanks ,Marco
