My route 66 champion 6000 satnav has no signal, just says no GPS

When a GPS device is switch on on a different place it was switched off, I could take some minutes before it finds enough satellites And when you are in a building, or close to high buildings it could take forever, because the receiver only can receive the very weak satellite signals, if it is outside and has a clear "view" of the satellites.

HOW DO YOU CONTINUE ON A SAVED ROUTE AFTER YOU HAVE MADE THE FIRST STOP? I WENT BACK TO THE ROUTE AND STARTED IT AGAIN BUT WHEN I PROCEEDED, IT JUST TOOK ME IN A CIRCLE BACK TO WHERE I JUST WAS. ALSO,...

When you reach the first stop on a saved route the satnav should automatically set the next stop as it's destination. If it doesn't it's possible that the spot you saved as your first stop was not exactly right i.e. you didn't drive to where it's marked on the satnav. If this is the case you need to mark the spot by driving to it and pressing the car (which shows your location on the satnav) and this gives you an option to save present location. Save it and use it instead of the one you entered by address. Then when you're setting your route you'll find it in your favourites and add it from there.

To get back to the map go back to the screen which shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP. Press VIEW MAP and it will bring you back to your map and should continue with your route.

WHEN IN A TRAFFIC JAM, HOW DO I FIND AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE?

With the route showing on your satnav, press MENU and then DETOUR. This should take you around the traffic jam. Alternatively you could just turn off, drive a distance from the traffic jam and let the satnav update your route to get you back on track. I hope this solves your problem.

MY GARMIN 255 STOPPED TALKING WHILE IN ROUTE HOME. ON THE WAY TO MY DESTINATION IT WORKED FINE. COMING HOME IT BEEPED BUT NOT VOICE. PLEASE HELP ME. AUDREY

1. Press the Volume (Speaker symbol) in the bottom right corner and check that the mute box is not ticked. If it is press it and it will be ok. Also check that the volume isn't fully down.
If that doesn't solve the problem it may be because the voice file is not selected or has become corrupted.

2. Press Tools, then press Settings (or Locale on some models), then press Language. You will see a bar for Voice. Press Voice and select a different voice. If this doesn't solve the problem it's most likely because the voice file has become corrupted. To replace the corrupted file.
3. Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 and connect your satnav to your computer. Install webupdater and your satnav will look for updates. After it's finished it will give you an option to download voices. Click the ones you want and press next. The voices selected will be downloaded to your satnav.
When you have removed the satnav from the computer you'll need to select a voice again as described in para 2 above.

Set the fastest route. The shortest route will take you off motorways and up narrower roads. Garmin satnavs know the difference between fastest and shortest.

Gives me wrong instructions

Unfortunately there's no solution to this problem. Software selects what it thinks is the best route but very often this is far from the best route. Different makes of satnav use different software. In tests he best has been shown to be the Garmin satnavs. Even these are not foolproof but they are close.

Use same route

Unfortunately this is a problem with all Satnavs. It's caused by the software which has to decide which is the shortest or fastest route. The Garmin Satnavs appear to be the least prone to this problem but even Garmins are not always 100%. They are however close to it. I'm afraid there's no solution to your problem except to maybe sell it on ebay and buy a Garmin

Says low battery how do I charge it?

You charge the unit via your cigarette lighter socket using the charge lead supplied. Generally you type a zip code if you know it and the satnav will calculate your route.\if you dont know the zip code type in an address but this gives several areas. Zip codes are preffered. It will talk once you start driving giving you forwarning of any turns you need to make in advance. Good Luck

Reset navman F10 sat nav

Press and hold the on/off button for ten seconds will re-set the system on the satnav. If the screen freezes after loading the maps then connect the Satnav to a pc via a usb lead and download the latest Service update fom Navman.com. With the Satnav connected to the computer and the download compleated double-click the F10 set-up.Exe and it will update the system on the Satnav. Once complete disconnect the cable and restart the F10. That was the way I sorted mine out after recieving 'little' help from Tech Support from Navman.com. My problem seems to be in the Multi-drop ability of the F10 [program one location and try and add another to plan a route] but I have never got anyhelp from the tech's other than "Buy a Connectivity kit from us and you may be able to use that to fix the problem....". If you get a "Not enough memory to complete update... " message after double clicking the F10 set-up, you will need to go into your F10 Satnav memory and look up some of the saved files from previous routes you have stored in there. I deleated some of these to free memory and it didn't seem to affect the Satnav's programming and allowed the update to complete. My F10 started fine after that. If you need any more help, Navman.com tech support may be able to suggest something....., just don't hold your breath....
