What does playing up mean? We have only used this DVD system once so wouldn't think we should have to replace it.

Need more info to resolve. Where did you see "playing up" message. You used the player only 1 time literally? Players have a 5 change limit on the country code. If you had problems playing a DVD and changed the country code (choice 1 to 5), maybe accidentally, you may have locked it into a code you cant use. What DVD dis you use (and what country code was it)? The DVD should tell you but it may be very small letters, maybe around the inside or outside edge.

There is definitely a solution for this but you must use a computer to recover the information on that disc. It also depends on the software you are using to recover such information from the disc. My recommendation would be that you start by simply inserting your disc in the DVD Rom on the computer see what happens when you open My Computer on the Desktop then you click on the DVD rom icon to see if the DVD opens. If it opens it means the information on the disc can be read. so you click again on the folder that appears. If you have a media player installed then that media player will play back those video files. These files can then be transferred to the computer then authored by a computer software like Nero. There are many other programs that can do this job. Also such software can open sometimes such a disc if and when the windows operating system's My computer fails to open it.

My CH - DVD 300 sticks a lot when playing. Otherwise it is fine. Do you think this is just the disk that needs cleaning or should we buy a DVD cleaner disk?

Hello,
how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.
To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.
Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.
If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.
To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.
Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.
Good luck.

How do you take a moive on the compter to a c d

I assume you mean a DVD. A DVD would be able to be used to watch the video in DVD Players and other computers. However, burning it to a CD would be usuable to as it would just act as a storage media but wouldn't be able to be played in a standard DVD player. To burn a DVD/CD you must first have a CD/DVD Burner. It is a CD Drive witht he capability to burn CD/DVD. Then you can just use any video burning software, such as Windows Media Player or iMovie (on mac) to burn the video on to your CD/DVD.

I have an LG VCR/DVD unit model RC389H purchased in 2010 When I try to play a DVD from France (Region2) I get the message "Incorrect region code. Can't play back" There doesn't seem to be a...

Take a look at the back of the unit. You'll either have one of these: captainhawk1.gifcaptainhawk1_0.gif(You may have another number)
Or one of these: captainhawk1_1.gif (or the oblong version... I just couldn't find one of those)
If you've got one of those little globes with the number on the back of it, you have a region locked DVD player and what that means is that the seller is selling locked DVD players and using a hack to get into the system and change the region code. They just did a sloppy job. What caught my attention is the fact that this is PAL Dvd Player and you need a separate NTSC converter to play on use television. A true ALL Region DVD player would also have be able to play both PAL and NTSC without the need for a converter as it is built-in already.
DVD's are not only made with region codes they are also made based on the analog standard for the region they are sold in. The US uses NTSC, Europe uses the PAL standard and what that means is that it's a different technology to broadcast the signal onto the screen. The US has been using NTSC since the 1940's, I'm not really sure about PAL. Take a look the back of a US DVD case and you'll notice atthe bottom it will say NTSC.
Since ALL Region players are obviously more desirable and therefore a true ALL Region player would be more expensive, it has become a common practice for sellers to get the region locked-players from gray market sources in Asia and use hacks to make them ALL Region but as noted it still doesn't solve the issue of the analog standard so you ahve to get yourself a converter. Think about it: what would be the point of LG making an All Region player that couldn't broadcast both analog standards?
Now, if you do have a globe with an ALL on it, then you have a true all region player and shouldn't have an issue on an NTSC television, but on the other and, it wouldn't play Region 2, so you obviously have a problem. So, either you got completely scammed or you have a true ALL Region player that is defective. Either way, I'd return the thing.

Hi, when a DVD system spins for awhile and does not play, it means that the Lens Which makes the CD inserted rotates, is to weak to play the inserted. Happens when the Lens is dirty.

You will need to clean up the lens by using a DVD lens cleaner. Comes inform of a CD and comes with instruction.

After cleaning the Lens, if still does not play, that means you will need to replace the Lens inside the system with a new Lens.

Have a nice day....
