I work at Walmart, I had to use some degreaser to

A very small amount of degreaser spilled in a large commercial fryer is harmless, but if in doubt, discard the grease, thoroughly rinse the vat with clean water, and allow to drain completely before refilling with grease. Recycle used grease. do not pour down a drain or storm sewer.

How do you empty the grease?

There's no really easy way. Let the oil cool. Place a piece of foil over one side of the rim and then use a ladle to remove as much of the oil as possible. Then remove the foil and quickly invert the fryer, not giving the last of the oil a chance to get around the edge of the rim. Wipe the rim with a paper towel before turning it right side up. Doing all this over a piece of newspaper help to control the mess.

Timer will not work on a wells wvaefs fryer-

either there is grease- built up oil in the timer or the timer unit has failed, parts for these fryers are expensive so my best offer on an option is to replace your fryer.

How can I get old (3yrs) grease and older off of all the workings under the fryer without compromising the electrical system, etc.?

Hi there.

You can clean the grease under your fryer by using a piece of cloth soaked on a grease cutter.
Gently wipe all grease but make sure that the parts will not be soaked with the solution when you do this.
Wipe with dry cloth after cleaning.

The stack in the rear has carcoal build up, also the lower components are covered with caked on grease

You really need to clean this up before using it... Built up grease will catch fire, and it's fairly easy to clean this. You can buy some deep fryer cleaner at a restaurant equipment type store near you or I can ship some to you, but it's easier to use a product intended for that use... They have liquids or a powder available and you will want to turn your fryer on to boil it out, with your cleaner in it. Any restaurant equipment will clean up alot easier if you have it on low or 200 degrees...including the outside of the unit. For super built on crud, they have sprays also you could spray up inside the flue area, that will eat away that grease build up. You will have to clean that out however, and they also carry brushes if you need one of those to reach it... It will take some elbow grease, and some patience, but we clean up equipment all the time that normal people would look at and throw away. When we're done with it, it looks brand new again... Good luck.. Susan 888-542-5959.

I need to clean the bottom tray of my range, it is the kind built in, the grid grill tops were easy to remove and clean, but below the burner part, congealed grease has caught there

Use some Simple Green full strength, as it will cut the grease and make it easy to wipe away. It may take a few times to get all the gunk that's built up since last being cleaned, but the cleaner will really make it easy to attack the grease and goo without all the nasty fumes of regular stove and oven cleaners.

Hope you found this very helpful and best regards!

I usually boil water in mine to clean it out. I let it boil for one full timer. To clean the outside I just use Windex and some elbow grease. Hopes this helps.

Main burner will not light or goes out before grease reaches temperature.

before replacing any parts, clean out the pilot, burner orfices and burners.if this doesnt solve your problem replace the 18884hobart and get the parts dept.tell them you need a thermopile for the model of your fryer.95% of the time the t-pile goes bad.theres also the hilimit in the unit that kills the gas if the fryer gets too hot but i dont think thats the problem.also check all wiring connections to the gas valve (clean and free of grease).drain the oil in the tank and youll see 2 bulbs ones the thermostat bulb the others the hilimit bulb.make sure their secured to the bracket.
