SOURCE: backward stitching

Knowing which kind of machine you have helps alot. Just guessing but maybe the reverse mechanism is stuck and needs some oil in it to free it up. Or the buttonhole mechanism is stuck in reverse part of it.
Probably you should have it looked at.

It sounds like the feed mechanism needs oil.

SOURCE: bobbin stitch is too loose on straight stitch

Try re-threading and re-installing the bobbin.

Make sure the thread from the bobbin is feeding in the correct direction and through the guide on the bobbin case.

Make sure the presser foot is up when threading.

SOURCE: I have a singer 211 and I am having a problem with the stitches the bottom walking plate will run forward for three stitches and then run backward for three stitches

Sounds to me like you want to have straight stitch and you have stitch selector set for a decorative stitch. Recheck machine settings. Use correct presser foot too for job you are doing. Jimmy

New to me (used) Ambition 1.0 skipping stitches when in free motion with feed dogs down and sewing in a backwards direction (stitches fine when going forward or even sideways).

You have to be more slow and even speed. The main thing is to not pull on the thread. The top and bottom thread have to work together in order to sew. Try to practice in a forward motion and then backwards. Make sure that you have the right pressure foot being used.

My machine will not sew in the forward position...It keeps sewing backwards like it is in reverse.....Need help ASAP

All sewing machines have a gear lever. This is so you can sew a seam forwards and backwards. Consult your manual.

While stitching the cloth goes backwards instead of moving forwards.the backwards stitching switch is constantly on. What should I do

check to see if your machine is in buttonhole mode, one of the legs of the buttonholer will always be a reverse zigzag.

Sewing backwards

try adjusting the top thread tension for the loops
try changing the needle
and see if that help any if not then take the machine back and
tell them what the machine is doing
if the machine was adjusted, then they should have checked the
stitches to make sure that the stitches were normal both forward
and backwards.

Why does my machine now only stitches backward, and no decorative stitches

You dont state what model of machine this is, however I have come across this problem mainly on Elna computerized machines and it has been exclusively due to failure of the driver chips on the processor board that control the stitch length stepper motor. You can confirm this by checking whether you can vary the stitch length as well as just the forward/reverse. Same applies to Bernina models, but I dont know about others. Either way, you need to have it checked by your tech.

I own a Brother Innovis 1500D machine and I wonder if this machine can do the blanket stitch?

On most brother machines there is a feature called my custom stitch. You can create any stitch there and save in a memory pocket for later use. I dont think the machine has a blanket stitch so its the only solution.

My husqvarna classica 90 sews backward instead of forward. Can you help with an answer why?

Make sure the stitch selector is not set on buttonhole. If the machine has set up for a long time not being used it may be that the stitch length is stuck in reverse.

Sewing machine only sews backwards

Make sure that the machine is in straight stitch forward and the stitch length is the highest level that it can go. If that doesn't make it go forward, you will have to use the old hair dryer trick. Take the top lid of the machine off and heat the inside with a heated hairdryer. Work the stitch length and the reverse until it frees up.
