Remove the CPU and CMOS battery from their sockets and press the power button of the chasis without connecting the power cable for 1.5minutes. After that place the CPU back into its socket and connect the power cable then power on the PC, it should power on and boot. After powering on Setup the BIOS settings and shutdown the computer and place the CMOS battery then you will be good to go.

Three long beeps one long beep when trying to install ram

check your windows version to see if it is 32 bit or 64 bit, the 32 bit version will only recognize 1 4gb module. Also when installing memory upgrades it is always best to use matched pairs to avoid problems. Luckily memory prices are much better than they used to be.

Hi, Do this for me. Check your RAM memory card(s). If it is bad windows will not run. Reseat the ram card and try again. Try with a new known ram cards. You may need a new card. Good luck.

My computer beeps continuously every time i have it plugged in

Try this suggestion. Turn off your laptop, remove the cables and battery on the pc. Press and hold the power button for 8 secs. Then reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn on the pc. If it still continues to beep with no interruption, it is a problem on the motherboard. I suggest to call Acer and have your computer repaired immediately unless if you know how to reseat the motherboard by tearing down the laptop..

When i start my computer just before it gets to the windows screen it shuts off..what do i do

If you're hearing beep codes like 1 short beep followed by 2 long beeps or 1 long followed by 2 short beeps...these beep codes is for either the video card or RAM.

If you could open the computer, remove the video card and RAM from their slots and clean the gold plates with dry cotton cloth. And clean the slots using a blower to remove the dust.

If that did not resolve the issue, listen to the beep code and consult a technician so that he could tell you which component is defective.

Thank you!

Installation of audiophile 192

Here is a list computer beeps and what they mean.

  • No Beeps: Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals
  • One Beep: Everything is normal and Computer POSTed fine
  • Two Beeps: POST/CMOS Error
  • One Long Beep, One Short Beep: Motherboard Problem
  • One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps: Video Problem
  • One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps: Video Problem
  • Three Long Beeps: Keyboard Error
  • Repeated Long Beeps: Memory Error
  • Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps: CPU Overheating

Most times the beeping is caused by a bad/loose connection somewhere or card not seated properly.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting everything again. Make sure that all the power plugs are connected properly even if you didn't mess with them. Moving things around can sometimes be enough to give you the "BEEPS". ";-}

If you are still having much beeping and no computing you can try my personal favorite.

Start first with verbal threats. Next move to a second floor window and, while you explain whats going to happen if it doesn't knock it off, open the window.

If that fails give it the pitch.
Believe it or not I have used this technique and after reassembly and repair.....No more beep.

I hope this helps but if not let me know and we will try something else.

Pc keeps beeping 3 times and nothing on the moniter

remove the RAM(MEMORY CHIPS) from *********** board and reinsert.if the problem is same replace the chips, get new chips.mostly cleaning the golden lines on the chip with pencil/school rubber solves the problem.
No beep is usually a power problem that can be related to the power supply, motherboard or both. Always check your battery power before thinking there is a bigger problem.
Step3
One beep is a normal POST. That means everything is fine. Two, Three, or Four short beeps are normally about the memory of the machine. If there is a problem with one of your memory chips you should get beeps of different combinations in this area. If you get two or three short beeps, one or both of your memory chips could be in trouble.
Step4
Five beeps point toward motherboard or CPU problems. Make sure your memory and video card are seated properly. Try removing them and putting them back in, only if you are comfortable with computers. Six, seven and eight beeps. Eight beeps indicate problems with your video card. Six or Seven are CPU, or a bad chip on the motherboard. Nine beeps mean the BIOS is bad. Replace the motherboard. Ten beeps means the problem is in the CMOS. All chips need to be replaced.
thanks.
