Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

I have a new computer, HP vista, I tried to load my 5100 kodak printer and had many problems. I finally got it loaded and it will not print. I am getting a message of "print job cannot complete, use the advanced dot placement mode, select a bordered paper and load paper try. I am not trying to print a photo, just trying to print a regular word document.

I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Go to the control panel, open Add or Remove software. Click on the driver for your printer, you may need to get the disk out to identify it.

Once removed I would go to the Kodak website and download the driver. It is located here http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-locale=en_US&pq-path=130 .

The original may have bugs or worse. Also you would get all the fixes and the most up to date software. Download and install the driver. Reboot the computer and see what happens. If all goes well you should be printing.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

Could not load software. Paper jam damaged print head.

Do the right thing, sell it on eBay but tell it like it is in the ad. Someone is bound to buy it and fix it.

Kodak 5100 won't print with Windows 7.

I've had the same problem for some time, but recently found a fix. Those sneaky folks at Kodak updated their Vista driver for the ESP series, and it works with Windows 7 now. Oddly enough they haven't advertised this fact, but it works none-the-less. Now, you're going to have to uninstall the Kodak Home Center, the driver and anything else associated with Kodak. You need to manually go through the Program Folder and delete anything Kodak. Make sure you set explorer to show hidden files/directories, and go to Program Data and delete any thing Kodak. Finally go to users appdata and delete anything Kodak in all the sub folders there. Then download and install the new May 1 drivers from the Kodak site:

http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=9103/13657/13660&product=EKN035329

Note: They are the Windows Vista drivers, but they do work on my Windows 7 machine.

You'll also notice that they've updated their installer program.

Hope this works for you, and if it does spread the word!

We are very unhappy with our Kodak 5100 printer. The most immediate problem is that it stopped printing. We tried changing the print cartridges, plugging and unplugging and still get only very faded...

it is because of the faulty or short tracked print head.better to buy a new hp printer rather than a kodak print head.hp printer is always a better choice

When you are installing the software it will tell you when to hook the printer to the software. It doesn't hurt to hook it up before, but best if you wait till it says.

Most probably the printer that you are using is not set as default, try checking that out from your control panel then try again.

Load a single 8x10 page and press Copy + Cancel until the printer feeds the paper. It will spit it out blank. Try printing another photo. Make sure Kodak logo faces up when you load it
