Vacuum it up. This fine sand will return to the sand filter and become trapped. Normal operation for a sand filter. Consider an automatic pool sweep, like Polaris. That will take this "problem" off your mind.

When backwashing...sand discharges out backwash hose..

A little sand in backwash is not uncommon. Many packaged sand filter systems use pumps whose flow rates greatly exceed the flow capacity of the filter.(the more horsepower the better, right? - Wrong) If this occurs only during back flush the the pump is too strong or the sand level is above the beginning of the rounded top of tank. The sand level will eventually correct itself.

When sand comes back from the filter, that means that the device inside the filter that keeps the sand in has broken. In order to replace the item, all of the sand must be removed and the tubes must be removed and new ones installed. Go to your local pool supply house with your filter information and they can show you how to remove your old units and they will sell you new ones. You only have to replace the ones that are broken.

I can't get the pool clean. I vacuum it & clouds up the water. The next day it like I never did it. I have backwashed and flushed . No change has been noticed.

Add a quart of drop out clarifier to the pool and let it circulate a couple of hours then cut the pump off and let it settle for 8 hours then vacuum the sediment on the bottom to waste and backwash the pump again. The cloudy water is caused by sediment too small to filter out and the drop out causes it to settle to the bottom.

Sand in backwash

You need to replace the seal in the head unit of the filter.. The sand should be replaced every three years or buy a cleaning solution.

There's sand in my pool!

I have had this issue with several clients and before worrying, you might have had sand being drawn back into pool lines during winterization. this happens when you blow out lines, plug holes, but keeping it pressurized. if it keeps happening check draw fins on bottom of filter.

Sand filter not catching little debris

Filter is being bypassed at backwash valve, due to poor spider gasket in valve, or there is a broken lateral in bottom of sand filter, causing debris to return to pool..
