Question about Proscan Televison & Video
I've moved the TV from its previous location & plugged it into a wall outlet without a surge protector just to see if maybe the surge protector has gone out but the result is the same. I don't mind replacing the part myself, I just have no idea what part could have gone out. Note: I am aware there were severe thunder storms during my vacation but have no other devices with issues in the house - the TV was on a surge protector by itself.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

how old is your tv?? ours was 2 1/2 yrs old it was a 40in lg hd ready lcd tv it just crackled and turned off one night same as yours it would turn on but with no picture or sound....we took it for repair and they said it was something inside that is basically impossible to fix...it would have cost more that the tv itself. BUT trading standards say a brand new tv should last upto 3yrs...you need to get a free qoute nd if they cant fix it contact trading standards and the tv MANUFACTURER not the shop where you got it....you NEED a reciept to do this for proof of when you purchased it...hope this helps :0)

The picture of the Power supply board:
Check the main AC fuse F6101 (locate at the bottom left of the picture), also see if the MOV (surge protector) VDR6101 (Yellow disk) is blown first in the power supply board (This TV has small surge protector built-in)

Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps.
Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
