Pretty sure you just press the display button repeatedly to shut it off, but here is the manual just in case I missed it:

Mhc-gn1300d. Why does it switch from one function to another by itself?

I would think because you have a system that works like a computer so from time to time you have to unplug and replay. That's why I never bought one of these.

Standby mode

When the STANDBY indicator

flashes

Immediately unplug the power cord

and check the following items.

• If your unit have a voltage selector,

is the voltage selector set to the

correct voltage?

Check the voltage for your region,

then make sure the voltage selector

is set correctly.

• Are the + and - speaker cords shortcircuited?

• Are you using the supplied

speakers?

• Is anything blocking the ventilation

holes on the rear of the unit?

After checking the above items and

fixing any problems, plug in the power

cord again and turn on the unit. If the

STANDBY indicator still flashes, or if

the cause of the problem cannot be

found even after checking all the

above items, consult your dealer.

Sony music hi fi system mhc-gzr88d show only demo not started

If only demo mode is playing,it's mean set is in standby mode.Normally
in standby mode it can't be operated. You have to power on the set by pressing power botton during demo mode.Once it gets power on,it will
start to work according to user required function. If the set not get power on after pressing power botton, then it's an electrical problem
and need to visit your nearby repairing centre.
