SOURCE: HP Deskjet D4160

hi,
Ink-backup mode lets you continue printing with one print
cartridge when the other print cartridge has run out of ink.
Ink-backup mode allows the printer to operate using only one print cartridge. It is initiated
when a print cartridge is removed from the cradle.
Exiting Ink Backup mode
Install two print cartridges in the printer to exit ink-backup mode.

Cheers !!!!

try to check your cartridges. Pull it out one at a time then try to see it it stop blinking. Especially cartridges that was refilled. Improper refilling of cartridges causes them to stop responding to your printer and causes to malfunction. this was base from my experience.

SOURCE: Brother DPC-165C has 'Init Unable AF' error

Yup. I suspect the head has been removed from the unit. There are adjustments on some printers. It was assembled wrong. The grating noise is likely the auto cleaner. If it cannot go 'home' the unit will not initialize. Possibly the head detect sensor is broken or covered. If the head will not home (moves out and back more than once or slams home hard), 'Init Unable AF'. You may be able to order a service manual from Brother for this. A repair shop can order the manual as well. (I suspect you need a new print head as well. You might want to replace the printer) see tips on bubblejet printers.

I have an HP 9800 Deskjet that I print heavier self stick vinyl paper. The print comes out wavy. Lines aren't strait and images get blurred. Seems like the rollers might be worn causing it not to pull paper in right and centered.

My printer goes through the motion of printing but the paper comes out blank. I've an hp deskjet d2360 and there is ink in it

Possibility cartridge print head dry.

Solution 1:
Do a clean process
cartridge automatically. Press START - Control Panel - Printers and Faxes - HP Deskjet d2360 right click and select Printing Preferences - Select the Color tab - select Printer Services - select Clean cartridge, wait for the cleaning process is completed - Perform Test print. If the print test results, has good graphics, press Finish. If the graph is not clear or drop out, repeat the cleaning process once again.

Solution 2:
1. Open the cover printer, cartridges will move to the middle position.
2. Remove the cartridge (be careful, do not touch the element cartridges or print head by hand), then stick the tip cartridge (print head) to clean water
3. Then, attach the print head to a tissue paper. If there is a tissue paper used in ink (black cartridges, black block lines, and color cartridges, three color red yellow blue lines), means the flow of ink to the print head is normal. If the
tissue paper no trace of ink, attach back into the water, repeat the above process.
4. After process is complete no.3, clean the cartridges with a tissue paper (careful, do not touch the element cartridges or print head by hand, because it will damage the cartridge). After cartridge clear of the water, insert the cartridges into printer.

Hi, I am looking for a print head for my HP deskjet 9800. C8165Al. SNTRC0405. Do you know where I can such apart? Also is the print head the same as the print head carriage assembly?

I think the print heads are built into the ink cartridge on this model. Try calibrating the printer, if this does not work you can replace the cartridge presenting the issue, or take it out and leave wet paper towel over the printheads, sometimes this unclogs them

I had walgreens refill my HP black ink container, but when i put it into the printer (HP deskjet 812c), the ink light just flashed continually and the printer won't work...and it makes these jerky sounds,...

It may be simply resolved by the following steps

1. there is document in the queue but paper is out
2. Cartridge problem (remove and insert again)
3. Communication error
4. Cover is open

BUT as per your description this seems more apt!!

This error means that some mechanical parts of your printer is in trouble. This could be some of the causes:

1. The print head is stuck somewhere or is unable to move because of some blockage in the printer's bay.
2. If you are using a Continuous Ink System, then the tubes might have blocked the print heads from moving.

To resolve, turn OFF your printer. Remove such blockage then turn the printer back ON

If its a problem with ink cartridges try these steps

Disconnect the Printer from the Computer.

Press the "Cartridge Change" button for ~ 3 Seconds.

When the Ink Cartridge Carriage travels to the Changing Position PULL THE POWER PLUG (NOT the "OFF" Switch). The Ink Cartridge Carriage should now Slide Freely on the Rail as long as it isn't pushed to the Right so that it goes under the shelf to the "Homed and Locked" Position.

Fold up a Paper Towel (About 1 Sheet) so that its final width is about the same as the width of the gutter under the Print Head on the Carriage and so that it is thick enough when folded to contact and lightly press on the Print Head.

Saturate the folded Paper Towel with ~ 70% Isopropyl Alcohol and lay it in the Gutter.

Manually slide the Carriage and Print Head Over the wet Paper Towel. A slight amount of drag should be experienced if the thickness of the paper towel folds is Correct.

Let the Print Heads rest on the Saturated Paper Towels for a few Minutes or Hours. Too long a Treatment may pull out all of the Cartridge's Ink: Check the Paper Towel Frequently to Assess if Ink is Capillarying out onto the Towel.

When the Treatment appears Successful remove the Paper Towel and Clean Up and plug the Printer power back in.

Run a Test Pattern via the Computer Connection WITHOUT first running the Head Cleaning Utility.

If the pattern isn't OK, Try Running the Head Cleaning Utility to see if it makes it Better or Worse.

If Worse, Repeat the Alcohol Paper Towel Treatment: The Paper Towel may be Gently Pulled back and forth under the Print Heads to wipe them off.

Paper Jam when there is no paper

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud
