Question about Stihl Garden

I have a stihl br340. I was told the ignition coil needs to be replaced. Does someone know an instruction manual or step by step video so I can fix this myself? Thank you in advance!

SOURCE: change ignition cylinder? (lock?)

Grandammit...Hey...replacing a lock cylinger requires recoded ignition keys, and a new lock cylinder requires dissassembly of the steering column. Not an easy fix, and I wonder if you are really the thief..you don't sound like a 9 month pregnant girl. Sorry......if I am wrong I am wrong. Drive it with a scredriver until you give birth then fix it.

SOURCE: change ignition cylinder? (lock?)

the new cylinder's key has a different code, so the anti-theft module has to reset to accept that code, with the old cylinder u could program extra keys as long as u had one key that worked, but since that is not the case with a new lock cylinder I think u are stuck with taking it to the dealer, any GM dealer can do this job, call around and try to get a lower estimate. Before having it towed try this work around I found on a car thread on this issue:

1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the passlock system to recognize your key. Not sure this will work but it is worth a try.

SOURCE: Check Engine Light On idling rough once car is warm

Your codes are as follows:

18010: "ECT Circuit High Input"
16684: "Random Misifre"
16685: "Cyl 1 Misfire"
16686: "Cyl 2 Misfire"
18010: "Voltage Supply Terminal 30 Voltage Too Low"

Your codes 16684, 16685 and 16686 are symptoms, not the problems. Obviously your engine is running roughly. So, once you get the problem fixed, these codes should go away on their own.

The 18010 code is normally displayed after the vehicle's computer has been re-set or replaced. If you've recently attempted to reset the computer in an effort to fix your issues, don't worry about this code. It too will go away when you get the main problem fixed. If you haven't reset the computer (or disconnected the battery for any other reason), then you'll want to check your battery cables and the power source cables running to your computer to make sure they're connected securely and are free of corosion.

Having said all this, we get to the root of your problem (code 16502). This code is triggered when your Engine Coolant Temp Sensor goes bad. The sensor typically sells for $60.

To remove and replace it:

  1. Allow the engine to cool below 100°F (37°C) before working on the cooling system.
  2. Note the anti-theft code and radio presets for the radio.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Locate the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) gauge sending unit.
  5. Drain the engine coolant until it is just below the level of the sensor into a sealable container.
  6. Detach the gauge sending unit electrical connection.
  7. If the sensor is held into the coolant passage with a retaining clip:
    1. Remove the sensor retaining clip, and pull the sensor straight out of the housing.
  8. If the sensor is threaded into the coolant passage:
    1. Loosen the sensor using a crowfoot wrench, a suitable boxed end wrench or a thin-walled 3/8 inch drive 12 point deep well socket and breaker bar.
To install:
  1. If the sensor is held into the coolant passage with a retaining clip:
    1. Install a new O-ring on the sensor.
    2. Using a small amount of fresh coolant or an anti-seizing compound, lightly lubricate the O-ring, and push the sensor in the housing.
    3. While pushing inward on the sensor, install the retaining clip.
  2. If the sensor is threaded into the coolant passage:
    1. Install the sensor with a new crush washer. Tighten the sensor to 12.5-14 ft. lbs. (17-19 Nm).
  3. Plug in the harness connector to the sensor.
  4. Refill the cooling system with the proper type and mixture of coolant and bleed as necessary. For additional information, please refer to the following topic(s): General Information and Maintenance, Fluids and Lubricants.
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable and re-code the radio as necessary.
  6. Start the engine, allow it to reach operating temperature and check for leaks.

Hope this helps and good luck!

SOURCE: need to replace ignition coil #2 on my 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5

If this is a 4 cylinder #2 is the second from the front of the motor. It is real easy to replace. I think it is a 10mm bolt that holds it in and you just unplug it from the harness, and put it out.

I have the older model which has the 3 bolt ignition coil. If I replace the coil, does the new ignition coil have to be 3 bolt as well? the 3 bolt replacement coils are so much more expensive

Coils are usually engine specific, the number of bolts does not determine whether or not it will work. If you really want your chainsaw to work correctly - buy the right part. It's a cheaper than a new one! Using the model number you supplied, I found them for under $50, which is about the value of an old 050 Stihl -wow, that's a heavy old saw. If you are still (Stihl ;^ )) not sure, call a Stihl repair facility. There may be an old timer mechanic who knows.

Stihl BR340 Backpack blower will not start when it is hot after use

What I think you have is a bad coil, as it heats up the tiny wraps of coil wire separate and some where in there there is a broken one, when it cool off it make contact until it get hot again

BR340 will not start backup after running for a while. I checked the spark plug and noticed it was wet. Replaced the spark plug.

If it gets hot and shuts off, then starts once it cools, you have a bad coil. If it runs to about half tank and shuts off and won't start, you may have a bad gas cap

pull fuel intake line and blow through it to see if filter in tank is clogged, also the vent in fuel cap may be blocked up, try runnig it with fuel cap loose to check for this, if this doesn't help, prob gonna have to tear in to carb
