The clerk is you. You need to sign on with your secret PIN number to use the machine. You must sign on to use it so it knows who is making sales for the reports. If you have lost your code, you can program new ones. Most manuals are at checkout tech -

How do I sign on and get rid of the E008! How do I put a clerk in there so I can sign on

Hi. You just type in your clerk id number and press the CLK# (clerk) button. That will remove the error and allow use of the register. If you've forgotten your secret ID code, you can program a new one. One of the users has most manuals here:

I programmed everything, tax table, depts. etc but when turned to register mode, it will not 'ring up', I just receive an error message. Model PCR-T280

Error 8= Not logged on. sign a clerk in. Error 1= Haven't finished before turning key. Finish in the mode you were in first, then turn key.
If it is not one of these, please supply error number or message.

Eror code E01 in sanyo ecr 140 cash register

Hi.
Sanyo information is very scarce as they are a very small player in the register market now, so I have no details on the 140. However, the standard error E01 usually refers to lack of clerk. This means you must sign a clerk onto the machine. See if you have a clerk or cashier button. Press 1 then clerk.
