I would start by trying a system software update using Garmin's free program WebUpdater. It is a free download from the Garmin website. If that does not work then you can try a manual screen recalibration Tools->Display->Recalibration You may need to press the wrong location on the screen to select what you need. If after a calibration the screen fails to respond then its the scrapheap i am afraid The cost of fix exceeds the value to replace
You could try a claim on insurance to have it replaced, especially if it was accidently dropped

My garmin nuvi 660 touch screen dosen't work

To calibrate the touchscreen on a nuvi 300 or 600 series:
  1. Power the unit On.
  2. From the Where to? / View map screen, touch Settings (wrench icon).
  3. Touch Display.
  4. Touch Recalibrate.
  5. A new screen will display that says Press Dot.
  6. Touch the center of the dot.
  7. Keep touching the center of the dot as it moves around the screen.
  8. When Calibration Complete appears on the screen, please touch OK.
The touchscreen will now be recalibrated.

If your touchscreen is not responding to any touch and preventing you from recalibrating the touchscreen using the instructions above, please follow the steps below:
  1. Connect your nuvi to your computer with a compatible USB cable.
  2. Open the Garmin Nuvi drive located in MyComputer/Computer. (Note: Mac users can locate the Garmin Nuvi drive icon on the Desktop.)
  3. Open the Garmin folder.
  4. Locate and delete the GUPDATE.GCD file.1
  5. Safely disconnect your nuvi from your computer.
  6. Power the nuvi Off.
  7. Power the nuvi on by holding the power button.
  8. Continue holding the power button down for 1-2 minutes until the screen calibration option displays.
  9. Touch the center of the dot as it moves around the screen.
  10. When Calibration Complete appears on the screen, please touch OK.

The touchscreen will now be recalibrated and should respond properly.

The touch screen will not work. can't navigate

The touchscreen needs to be replaced. I have run across a batch of touchscreens found in the Nuvi 6xx series that quit working even though they have no apparent physical damage to them. Apparently they are made from a different vendor than the ones the manufacturer was originally using. The only way to repair it is to replace it.

All of a sudden my "Touch screen" does not work!

My older garmin came with a remote and my touch screen went bad. So in order for me to use it at all, I have to use the remote control.

Not touch sensative

In 90% of the cases it's the digitizer (the touch sensor that is mounted in front of the screen). You can try to replace it yourself or send it to a third party gps repair service.

Touch screen not functioning properly. Press one key, get another

The touch screen on Garmin Nuvi 660 is not working at all. It turns on, but when I touch the screeen, nothing happens. Could it be the battery. It was low, so I charged it for 45minutes, then the gps screen dimmed and turned off after just 10-15 minutes of "messing with it"

Garmin Nuvi 660 touch screen freezes up. Soft

I sat on the phone for 30 minutes waiting for Garmin support when my Nuvi suddenly had no touch screen response. They had me delete a file on the device (with it hooked to my computer) then reboot and it went thru a touch screen alignment and it worked.

Sadly, it has frozen again and I don't recall the file (it had been a GCD file in all caps, that is all I know and I don't see a file in all caps any more). I will be calling support tomorrow.

My take is that it *is* a firmware thing *and* there is some way to reset the firmware.
