SOURCE: Craftsman 42" mower deck won't disengage

Try pulling on the cable coming down to deck. This cable might be your problem. Also check that the spring on the end of this cable is present and functional.

SOURCE: Craftsman 20hp tractor starts with mower engaged.

OK. You have one of two problems, or maybe a combination of the two.lol. Either the clutch cable that runs from the lever to the deck is frozen, or most likely, the pivot point on the idler arm on the deck is rusted up and is not disengaging. Spray some penatrating oil at the base of the bracket the idler pulley is mounted on (pivot point) while working it back an forth until is loosens up. There is also a spring that is hooked to the idler arm and to a slot in the middle toward the front of the deck to pull the arm forward when the blades are disengaged. Make sure that is in place also.

SOURCE: Sears Tractor Mower 42" is cut cutting lawn in two uneven strips

First, check the blade, it may be bent. If not, there is an adjustment nut (9/16) on each side in the middle of the deck hanger bracket. Get on level surface and screw each up or down to get blade tips the same height on each side.

If the shaft was put in the ground while tractor was running it could be every thing is jammed and needs to be released before it will work. Just a thought.

How. Do I Disengage gear so I can push a craftsman 0turn?

If you have a tractor look on back wall of tractor behind seat. There is a lever that you pull to disengage. It should be marked.
If you have a O turn I believe you push your drive handles outward. You may need to disengage E brake .
GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Cub cadet:position of blades on mower deck of a cub lt 1045

the easiest is to lift it of ground a little.... not started and position the blades parallel to the body of the tractor. The blades even misaligned should not hit each other or cause any issues. with the blades disengaged they should move freely or with minimal effort

How do I replace the blade belt on a ranch king lawn tractor?

Turn off the mower completely and clean out beneath the deck with a mower-cleaning tool to remove any built-up grass deposits. As debris collects inside the deck, the blades can't move freely and you'll have unusual patterns or unevenness forming in your lawn as a result. The mower-cleaning tool scrapes this debris off and restores the deck to proper function.
Measure the height of the mower deck with a ruler when the mower is on flat ground. The deck should be an equal distance from the ground on all sides to ensure an even grass cut. Adjust the leveling bolts on both sides of the deck as needed to readjust the height until it's even. If the mower hits something like a rock or a large stick while mowing, it may knock the deck off balance.
Inspect the deck for any dents or warping. Use a rubber mallet to carefully straighten any dents in the deck if the deck is metal. Plastic decks generally need replacement if they crack or warp.
Remove the deck for a more thorough inspection or cleaning as needed. Remove the grass catcher and take off the pins or mounting bolts holding the deck in place. Lower it to the ground and pull it out from under the mower. Unhook the cutting blade from the underside of the deck with a wrench and set it aside.
Sand off any rust with sandpaper and use the mallet or a hammer to eliminate any remaining dents or warps.
Reinstall the deck once any corrosion or dents are fixed.

I have a problem leveling my mower deck. I level it at the sides and front .I use the mower and it cuts uneven. mower is deck is out of alignment. less than 1 hour on it.

The deck could be bent, or you will probably have to level the back of the deck as well. Another thing to check is the air in the tires, this can cause an uneven cut. Although the tire may look pumped up, with the weight of a person on the tractor can cause an uneven cut.

I have a John Deere X304 that mows unevenly.

Make sure that your gauge wheels are not running on the ground during mowing, they should only hit the ground when you engage a high spot on one side.also when you level the deck the front should be a 1/2" lower than the rear.

Mower dies after disengage brake

Sounds like your switch that senses when your sitting down is not working. If you get up off your seat while the tractor is running and the brake is disengaged, the tractor should shut off as a safety feature.

Uneven cut

I suggest you park the tractor on a level hard surface. Measure from the bottom of the deck to the ground on both sides of the deck to see if it is mounted level. The next thing to check for is a bent blade. Good luck.
